The Algorithmic Warfare team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Signal Image Processing Engineer 2 or 3 based out of Woodland Hills, CA.

What You'll get to Do:

  • Design signal processing algorithms to extract signals from noisy data.

  • Probe large quantities of sensor data to uncover, understand, and exploit complex phenomenology.

  • Develop and apply artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches to accomplish mission objectives.

  • Prototype algorithms in MATLAB, IDL, Python, C, and/or C .

  • Measure algorithm performance as applied to a variety of sensor data.

  • Collaborate with a software engineering team to facilitate algorithm implementation in real-time code.

  • Present technical progress at technical review meetings, and documenting results via written reports.

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position may be filled at the higher level based on the following qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 2 years of related technical experience, or 0 years with a Master's Degree.

OR

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline with 5 years of related technical experience, or 3 years with a Master's Degree.

  • Demonstrated success developing technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an active DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in any of the following areas is highly desired: data analysis, artificial intelligence/machine learning, signal processing techniques, statistical decision theory, and algorithm development, particularly as applied to complex sensor systems.

  • Proficiency with scientific prototyping languages such as MATLAB, IDL, Python, and/or Mathematica.

  • Familiarity with signal processing algorithm design and implementation in C and/or C , and real-time parallel processing.

What You'll get to Do: This Digital Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and real-time verification of hardware/firmware elements and related computing systems for an existing development program. Candidate is required to be knowledgeable in verification, proficient with Test Bench generation in UVM or System Verilog. Candidate will have knowledge of DO254 process and artifact generation for DO254. The candidate will possess strong communication skills as he or she will interface with our development program leads, senior scientists, engineering and manufacturing organizations throughout the program lifecycle. The individual will also have technical foresight to integrate the appropriate requirements, processes, procedures and tools as this development program will lead to the future generation of navigation, video & cockpit products. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer: Bachelor's in a STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a STEM field with no experience. Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer: Bachelor's in a STEM field with 9 years of relevant experience, a Master's in a STEM field with 7 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of relevant experience. Other Basic Qualifications: * High Speed Digital Design; FPGA, SoC, and memory design experience * Test bench development, and V&V processes * Familiarity with QuestaSim, Synplify, and FPGA P&R Tool flow. * Communication, team building and facilitation skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with team, upper management and customers. * Prior working experience on all design processes including hardware requirements definition, conceptual design, detailed design, verification, production transitioning. * Technical writing skills on design plans and procedures * Experience with requirement tracing tools DOORS, LDRA, and FPGA verification tools (e.g. Conformal) Preferred Qualifications: * Prior experience and knowledge on RTCA/DO-254 designs * System Verilog & UVM * Digital Signal Processing design and verification experience * Computer Architecture knowledge (bus standards, interrupts, memory * Sensor designs (Fixed point logic, algorithm implementation) What We Can Offer You: Northrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment that encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company.
