Description
This position is an entry-level position for all traffic signs and markings. The purpose of this position is to ensure that all personnel have had extensive exposure to installation, maintenance, and assembling of roadway traffic control devices. Reports to the Department Director or Designee.
Examples of Duties
Set up traffic control around work area and be responsible for maintenance of traffic within work zone.
Clean signs in the field.
Install and maintain the necessary inventory of supplies on vehicle.
Fabricate and install traffic signs.
Participate in the installation and replacement of pavement markings, operating striping and pavement marking machines.
Position requires stand-by rotation and assistance with special events after a six month probation period.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
Six months related experience in a mechanically oriented job and/or training.
Must have prior experience using a windowsbased personal computer.
Must have the ability to use various hand and power tools and propane fueled machinery.
Must have the ability to learn and operate tools, equipment and machines used in the fabrication and installation of signs and the application and removal of pavement markings.
Licenses/Certificates:
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Must possess a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License Permit by date of hire.
Must maintain a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with air brake certification within six months of the date of hire or promotion.
Residency Requirement:
Must reside within 45 minutes of Traffic Sign Shop for quick emergency response time and have working telephone.

Under GENERAL SUPERVISON where standard practice enables the employee to PROCEED ALONE on routine work, referring all questionable cases to supervisor.
