Sign Fabrication Technician

Description of Duties

This skilled position, located in the Department of Transportation, is responsible for the layout, design, and production of various signs. Work is conducted in accordance with New York State regulations governing traffic control devices.

The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Sign Fabrication Supervisor or other higher-lever staff member. Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A) Graduation with an Associate's degree or sixty (60) college semester credit hours* in an art field, such as graphic design, metal arts, or a closely related field; OR,

(B) One (1) year experience in one or more of the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades, or in sign layout and design, metal fabrication, or as a commercial or professional artist.; OR,

(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

• Candidates qualifying under (A) above must submit a student or unofficial copy of their college transcript along with their application.
