Shot Blast Operator

Hourly Pay: $16-20 based on experience

OVERALL SUMMARY

The Shot Blaster Operator is responsible for supplying materials to the other fabrication work centers as directed by the daily requirements. When the material requires blasting, the operator will be responsible for processing such material through the shot blast equipment. The Operator will have responsibilities to collect data relating to the blaster equipment and to perform daily checks and basic maintenance on the equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate Shot Blasting Equipment: Set up, operate, and monitor shot blasting machines to clean, deburr, and finish metal parts and surfaces according to specifications.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine daily checks and basic maintenance on the shot blasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.

  • Quality Control: Inspect parts before and after blasting to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Report any defects or inconsistencies to the supervisor.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure a clean and safe work environment.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including the quantity of parts processed, machine settings, and any issues encountered.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of production schedules.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Individual must possess these knowledges, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Experience: Previous experience operating shot blasting, or similar industrial equipment is preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Basic mechanical aptitude, ability to take measurements and perform basic math operations.

  • Material Handling: Ability to operate material handling equipment and overhead cranes is preferred.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to specifications.

  • Communication Skills: Good verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members and supervisors.

  • Safety Awareness: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety protocols.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Individuals must be able to meet these physical requirements or be able to demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a noisy environment.

  • Must be able to stoop and bend.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.

  • Work requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear protection, gloves and steel-toed boots.
