Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in enforcement of zoning ordinances, codes, and conditions; performs related work as assigned.
Typical Duties

Conducts field inspections to ensure compliance with zoning ordinances, plans and conditions
Negotiates compliance with involved parties
Identifies and takes action to resolve non-compliance
Prepares and maintains records and reports
Represents the County in the Code Enforcement Hearings and Appeals process
Works with other county departments to enforce ordinances, plans, and conditions
Participates in update and revision of County zoning ordinance
Essential functions include but are not limited to: driving, standing; walking; sitting; lifting and carrying (up to 20 lbs.); Pushing and pulling (up to 20 lbs.); working with and around others; working alone; working with interruptions; repetitive motion hand/ wrist/ elbow/ shoulder; vision acuity (near/ far/ color vision) for inspections; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch for working with electrical/ mechanical systems. Environmental factors include working outside part of the time.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years' experience in code enforcement or related field; OR
Associate degree in a related field and one years of experience in code enforcement or related field; OR
Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR
Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
Theideal candidatewill possess refined written and oral communication skills, possess some enforcement experience, will be comfortable with travel and will be familiar with rural counties and ordinances.

This position is safety sensitive.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of:
County zoning ordinances and plans
Principles, practices and techniques of codes enforcement
Ability to:
Understand and interpret ordinances and provide accurate information to the public
Conduct research and make effective presentations
Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
Communicate effectively orally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
Follow written and verbal instructions
