The Shop Technician acts as support to the shop employees and Machine Maintenance Group in the areas of recycling, running errands, general building maintenance, service and maintenance of machines, inventory, and chip and oil handling.

Areas or Responsibility

  • Manages the weekly rotation and handling of chip barrels

  • Organizes barrels of waste oil, used litter and used filters, and arrange with supervisor for recycling

  • General upkeep of work areas as needed

  • Manages oil spills and spill control booms

  • General service and machine maintenance: including cleaning machines, checking filters, oiling, coolant, and sump pumps, inspections of machines

  • It is the responsibility of the Shop Technician to do whatever needs to be done to assist in the process of getting parts out the door and facilitate better flow of work in the shop in general.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1 - 2 years experience in a shop environment desired

  • Able to perform general maintenance tasks

  • Valid NH driver's license, forklift certifiable

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds in a safe manner; and request assistance when warranted.

  • Must be able to climb in and out of small places; crawl around machinery.

  • Must have range of motion sufficient to permit climbing stairs and ladders, walking, standing, stooping, and crouching for extended periods of time while performing duties.

Any offers of employment will be contingent upon the satisfactory results of a drug and alcohol screening test arranged by TURBOCAM. The cost of the screening is covered by TURBOCAM.

The Shop Technician II does whatever needs to be done to improve the cleanliness of the shop, assist in other areas when production is shorthanded and in general facilitates a better flow of work in the shop. General Company Responsibilities * Support the Company Mission. * Comply with established safety practices and commit to operational excellence. Position Specific Responsibilities * Manages the daily servicing and subsistence of the machines in a timely manner with direction coming from the Engineering department. * Works with machine maintenance to clean before, during and after they perform PM's or major equipment repairs. * Maintains order and cleanliness of both lathe and mill areas. * Responsible for: cleaning tools, tool assemblies and tool change areas carousel/turret for both mills and lathes; cleaning machine cutting area; cleaning and replacing tool setter in both mill and lathed; cleaning, fixing and adjusting tool doors and machine doors. * Repairs leaking water and air lines, replace lighting in both mills and lathes, clean air filters on mill and lathes, clean air vents on all motors for pumping fluid. * As needed performs all duties listed on the Shop Technician job description. * Perform other duties as necessary. Qualifications & Requirements * High School diploma or GED equivalent. * Experience in a shop environment helpful. 1 or more years experience as Shop Technician preferred. * Able to perform general maintenance tasks. * Mechanically inclined and willing to learn. * Motivated self-starter; work with little supervision. * Must possess valid driver's license from his/her state of residence, forklift certifiable, able to obtain DOT health card. * Basic understanding of MS Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel desired. * Must be able to lift 50 pounds in a safe manner; and request assistance when warranted. * Must be able to climb in and out of small places; crawl around machinery. * Must have range of motion sufficient to permit climbing stairs and ladders, walking, standing, stooping and crouching for extended periods of time while performing duties.
