The Service Technician will perform a variety of daily tasks to ensure safe and efficient rental operations. This position will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on light to heavy equipment for delivery to Messer project sites and regions. This individual will perform a variety of duties for his/her location(s). They will develop positive relationships with other Rental Division employees in order to facilitate the atmosphere and positive work environment for a successful team.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhere to all safety procedures

  • Maintain positive customer relations through professional interactions with customers

  • Loading and Unloading of trucks while complying with all DOT regulations for height, width, and weight

  • Maintain workshop orders of work performed in a complete and timely manner on a daily/job basis

  • Perform general maintenance and repair to company equipment & facilities

  • Using some degree of independent judgement, is responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment and tools, which involve mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel and electrical systems at branch or customer locations

  • Perform diagnostic procedures across a variety of component systems and equipment

  • Plan and coordinate the daily work schedule with supervisor

  • Pressure washing and cleaning of returned tools and equipment

  • Provide assistance to all other levels of technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairs

  • Keep warehouse and laydown area organized and safe

  • Attend formal trainings

  • Assist in the training of technicians

  • Check out, familiarize and demonstrate equipment for customers

  • Perform major repairs with minimal supervision

  • Identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory and the need for shop tools

  • Maintain a service vehicle in a clean and professional manner, ensure the vehicle is always properly maintained

  • Assist and perform quarterly inventories in the shop and on the truck

  • All other duties and responsibilities determined by the management of the rental division

  • Active role in strengthening relationships with customers & vendors

  • Maintain a professional, positive attitude at all times

  • Proven leadership & mentoring ability

  • Possess all auditory, speaking and communicating capabilities

  • Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting, climbing, pushing and pulling, lifting (75lbs), seeing, and reading.
