The Shop Manager will provide management support and leadership for Amarillo Gear Service's gearbox service center in Covington, LA. This position is responsible for meeting business objectives in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost while complying with internal and external policies and procedures. The Shop Manager will promote continuous improvement as part of the daily work activities by planning production schedules, materials requirements, staffing needs and participating in the business planning process.
In non-manufacturing environments, responsible for the operation of the business unit's facilities and processes. Responsible for the design and implementation of policies and procedures to facilitate processes and resolve procedural problems. Evaluates the feasibility of new or revised systems and procedures to ensure compliance with established standards.
Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and manage shop operations.
Represent operations in communications with outside sales and engineering.
Serve as primary contact and host for customer shop visits and provide shop related updates.
Ensure operating goals and objectives are consistent with business and corporate objectives.
Assume role of Safety Coordinator and assure all operations exceed industry standards.
Champion quality efforts to maximum customer satisfaction and maintain ISO Certification
Develop, monitor and publish metrics for critical KPI's in a timely and accurate manner.
Improve productivity and decrease waste through the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
Work with GM and inside sales to prepare and submit accurate and timely forecasts and production reports as required.
Identify and justify capital equipment needs.
Assess training needs, job progression and succession planning for operations team members.
Enforce compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Participate in business planning, operations capability assessments, growth planning, etc...
Complete other duties and assignments as requested by senior management.
