Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Specialist

Reports To: Warehouse Manager

Department: Shipping/Receiving

Summary: Completes assigned daily shipping or receiving tasks daily by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

The Shipping & Receiving Specialist role encompasses several job functions within the Distribution area. It is the intent that, as the Shipping & Receiving Specialist develops, they will learn all these roles:

Receiving and Warehouse

  • Ensures accurate receipt of incoming items, conducting verification of pallet content with reference to PO documentation.

  • Accurately labels and samples incoming materials, and transports to storage location.

  • Retrieves materials from warehouse for shipping, repacking, and / or sampling purposes.

  • Maintains best storage practices through consolidations, scheduled cycle counts, pallet replacement due to condition, and general housekeeping.

Shipping

  • Packages, prepares, and labels all orders for shipping, adhering to Vigon safety standards.

  • Ensures required shipping documents prepared accurately and on time.

  • Maintains required certification to allow for shipping of all required materials (Hazardous).

Repack and Sampling

  • Ensures required sample shipments prepared including necessary documents.

  • Ensures stock of samples replenished as required in a safe manner.

  • Conducts repacks as required per instructions. Adheres strictly to PPE requirements and container specifications.

  • Ensures accuracy of location and weight of items.

  • Performs routine housekeeping functions.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training.

Language Ability:

Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to individuals and/or groups at all levels of an organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals at all organizational levels. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, inventory/database software and the internet. Necessary skills include; contact management systems, database software, design software, spreadsheet and word processing software
