Join the Laboratory Services Team supporting scientific and facilities operations in a dynamic laboratory environment! Operations may include, but are not limited to, ordering consumables/supplies, lab logistics and moves, shipping and receiving, glassware washing, autoclaving, mail services, waste stream management, chemical and gas management, media and buffer preparation, inventory management, and emergency response management. Liaise with client researchers and support personnel to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction and support to enable client scientific operations.
Proactively perform lab services scope of work for the account, implementing client standard processes and procedures, ensuring superior customer satisfaction, sustaining a safe work environment and demonstrating productivity.
Perform DG classifications and packaging of client chemical and biological research samples for both domestic and international shipments.
Manage shipping compliance according to IATA and DOT.
Maintain archive of all shipment documentation in online folders.
Manage inventory of shipping and mail room materials
Maintain high level of organization and cleanliness of shipping room at all times.
Movement of materials between shipping room and storage areas.
Proactively obtain quotes and purchase orders from vendors for new orders.
Coordinate with site researchers to guide and assist with the accurate completion of shipment requests.
Initiate, track, and complete shipments with specialty couriers as needed.
Collect and report daily and monthly metrics.
Participate in monthly safety inspections.
Act as afternoon backup to Loading Dock Clerk in times of team coverage.
Periodically perform sorting and delivery of USPS mail.
Assist with carrying out site office moves as well as laboratory equipment moves via work orders.
Operate forklift as needed to support loading dock operations.
Complete required comprehensive training in corporate, site specific, and departmental procedures.
Assure that the necessary safety equipment and personal protective equipment is available and utilized.
Drive adherence to established processes and demonstrate agility and creativity to meet dynamic business needs.
Escalate risks throughout the organization appropriately.
Any other duties and tasks assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required, continued education in a science related field preferred.
IATA & DOT certifications preferred.
DOT HE-1D General Industrial Forklift Licence preferred.
Ability to multitask and provide flexibility to the client.
Demonstrated analytical ability and attention to detail.
Experience in operations or logistics preferably in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or research fields.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
Proven ability to work independently and in group settings.
Effective use of technology and tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite, including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
