YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist provides administrative, technical, and/or specialized support to warehouse operations. Performs complex, non-repetitive work assignments that may require advanced skills. May support multiple areas, including warehouse, operations, and inventory associated with the daily operation of the warehouse to achieve maximum efficiency.
Description:
Collaborate with operation team, transportation, customer service and planning / procurement to determine priority levels for inbound receipts (transfers & new receipts)
Collaborates with operation team, transportation, customer service and planning / procurement to determine priority levels for shipment of all transfers & sales orders
Maintains electronic & hard copy (as necessary) records of incoming and outgoing shipments
Performs incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments
Effectively communicates on an ongoing basis both verbally and via electronic communication to: operations, customer service, inventory, planning / procurement and transportation of potential / actual service failures
Reviews electronic communications, notices, bill of lading, invoices and other records to determine shipping & receiving priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to verify accuracy and meet shipping and receiving schedules
Review all departmental records (hard copy, spreadsheets, electronic) for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures
Compiles records of unfilled and unreceived orders / receipts as necessary
General responsibilities for food safety and quality including, but not limited to housekeeping, reporting damaged product, and reporting pest issues.
Supporting other activities and projects as assigned or dictated by business priorities.
YOUR PROFILE
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
At least 1 (one) year experience in a warehouse office (shipping / receiving) environment is desired.
Strong organizational skills are required.
The ability to be very flexible to meet the challenges of working for several people in a high intensity environment with constantly changing priorities is required. The ability to work in a team environment is essential.
Proficient computer skills are required, including Internet skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) is desired.
Must possess the writing capabilities of preparing correspondence and other widely distributed communications with little direction.
The ability to be an effective communicator capable of working with a large and varied clientele in a very professional manner.
