Mapes and Sprowl powered by UPG is looking to fill the position of a Shipping & Receiving Clerk in their Elk Grove Village, IL location. Mapes & Sprowl is looking for a detail-oriented candidate that is eager to learn and grow in the fast-paced environment. Any relevant steel experience is preferred, but not required. We strive to build strong relationships with our customers by providing high level of service, value-add opportunities, and professionalism in all interactions, allowing us to become a valued member of their supply chain and production teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow all Shipping/Receiving Work Instructions
Use micrometer, caliper, tape measure, and other measurement tools, as required
Use MIS to print stock and ship tags, scan, and look up material using tag number, mill coil number, or item code
Fill out inspection forms and defect notification forms, as required
Recognize non-conforming material and take appropriate action if non-conformance arises
Use a hand scanner and create hand tags
Spot loads in the optimum location in the warehouse
Operate jib crane and overhead crane, as required
Operator all crane apparatus (C-hook, Coil Grabs, etc.)
Inspect and operate forklift, as required
Use all PPE properly and follow all safety rules
Provide training, as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience in manufacturing environment
Ability to read and understand Shipping/Receiving work instructions
Experience with ERP systems, hand scanners, and shipping and receiving processes, preferred
Ability to read and understand Bill of Lading
Ability to work safely and efficiently without supervision
Crane and forklift knowledge and experience a plus
Positive demeanor, dependability, and strong work ethic
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. regularly
