General Overview

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Entry level position. Applies basic skills and duties and tasks are standardized. Works under direct supervision.

Essential Job Functions

  • Receives items by unloading vehicles, accepting deliveries, and unpacking containers.

  • Verifies items received by inspecting condition of items, compare count and price of items to purchase order and packing list and note all discrepancies.

  • Prepares shipments by assembling, packing, protecting, and labeling containers and packages.

  • Receive packages and materials and unpack as needed.

  • Determines method of shipment by examining items to be shipped, destination, route, rate, and time of shipment.

  • Tracks and traces shipment status.

  • Coordinates and plans customer orders.

  • Creates and manages reporting functions using MS Excel and other PC based reporting tools.

  • Assists with incoming and outgoing freight.

  • Selects appropriate shipping and packaging materials.

  • Checks receipts against purchase order for proper shipment, shortages, damages, or defects.

  • Completes receiving reports specified in standard procedures.

  • Moves or expedites material to proper department or storage location.

  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures.

  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

  • Notifies Yard Supervisor of the arrival of shipments of freight as needed.

  • Keeps accurate records of inventory and/or shipments coming in and going out.

  • Prepares other paperwork including bills of lading.

  • Receives and verifies inventory.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Requires moving of products weighing over one ton; incumbent must be physically able to meet the demands of keeping heavy products in order and shipped on schedule while adhering to safety practices and policies.

  • Works indoors and well as outdoors and has exposure to weather elements on a daily basis. Must properly accomplish objectives despite of weather elements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED) or graduation from a certified technical school.

  • Shipping experience (dealing with actual parts/products, the MRP system, paperwork, crating, etc.)

  • Receiving experience (dealing with the MRP system, paperwork, putting parts away, etc.)

  • Warehouse experience (picking/pulling parts, organization, MRP system, etc.)

  • Forklift experience (desirable, but not required)

  • 2 years' experience

Receives and inspects finished signage and products, verifying correctness and quantities against inventory/customer supplied GTR's. Properly tag and store all received products, maintain inventory control of all finished products. Notify appropriate personnel of shortages, damaged or incorrect products received. Maintains records, files and inputs data of all finished products, and handles routine correspondence for all finished products. Operates forklifts, compactors, bailing machines and various hand tools, maintains cleanliness of the finished goods area and other warehouse areas, removes trash, and assists in other areas of the warehouse or other departments as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: * Completing administrative and electronic functions for and materials received and issued * Inventory preparation and cycle counting * Communicate problems with supervisor or warehouse manager * Maintaining cleanliness of material staging area * Operate forklift, guillotine cutters, other machinery and various hand tools * Assisting in other warehouse areas or departments as needed * Pulling IMS orders, verifying part numbers, promotions, and quantities. * Cycle count any signage with less than 10 left in inventory, including and up to the last sign. * Sending Box approval and IMS shortage emails. * Pulling GTR's and debiting in a timely manner. * Pulling customer supplied signage and relocating remaining signage to the customer's designated FG area. * Putting away new inventory and overage in a timely manner. * Pulling reship orders accurately and in a timely manner. * Ensuring overage is tagged and put away in the designated rack for each customer. * Handling special requests from Account Managers. * Monitoring Asset Manager for requests from customers. * Tracking down missing signage from overage, and resolving any issues. * Entering new signage into inventory when overage signage is purchased by customer. Education: * High school diploma or GED equivalent * Ability to communicate (read, speak, write) in English * Pass a proficiency test administered during the hiring process Qualifications, Skills Abilities and Competencies: * Minimum of 2 years high volume order pulling / order entry experience * Very detailed oriented * Strong analytical skills * Computer literate * Work well within a team environment to ensure productivity and quality * Strong ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities * Ability to work independently with little supervision * Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. * Ability to stand for extended periods of time * Available for weekend work shifts & Overtime * Be computer literate, experience in Microsoft office preferred * Forklift experience preferred but not required, (must be willing to obtain certification) Physical demands: * Candidate must be able to commute within their metro area and travel in the United States as needed. * PC/Keyboard: Position requires extensive work on computers, using keyboards and viewing monitor. * Standing: Remaining in the standing position for lengthy periods of time. * Lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) of up to 75 lbs. * Carrying: Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder * Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. * Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips * Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly * Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear * Depth Perception: Three-dimensional vision.
