Summary

  • Directs and coordinates activities concerned with the documentation and routing of outgoing and incoming freight.

  • Directs activities assigning load to loaders; scheduling LTL, verifying inbound and outbound appointments. Preparing billings from tariff, complete manual BOL according to type and weight of freight or merchandise.

  • Ensuring that each load gets shipped correctly and timely to avoid missing deliveries or lost goods.

  • Ensure that inbound are received in a timely manner and are directed accordingly.

  • Communication with yard jockey and security to coordinate trailer placement.

  • Communication with carriers and brokers to keep appointments aligned.

  • Reviews documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with mode of transportation and destination of shipment.

  • Investigates shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.

  • Verify and maintain records of incoming and outgoing goods.

  • Strong sense of time organization and urgency.

  • Able to work independently and within a team.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as volume and sums.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
