Overview

TITLE: SHIPPING CLERK

LOCATION: ARVIN, CA

COMPENSATION: $16.05 / HOUR + 0.20 (SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL)

PURPOSE:

Clerk/Receptionist for the shipping department. Perform light secretarial work. Maintain shipping records and distribute paperwork to appropriate personnel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Customer service and answer heavy telephones.

• Process bill of lading for shipping out trucks as required.

• Direct trucks to docking area.

• Effectively communicate necessary information to sales, production, drivers, buyers and shipping staff.

• File paperwork and handle all office procedures.

• Position will be required to cover other time schedules depending on business needs.

• Perform administrative duties as instructed by the Shipping Supervisor or Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Ability to occasionally move about inside the office and food processing facilities. Must be able to work in a high noise area.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior shipping experience preferred but not required.

• Ability to answer heavy telephone calls.

• Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

• Familiarity with GIS system (Grimmway Information System) a plus.

• Proficient in 10 key by touch.

• Must have basic math skills.

• Excellent organizational and management skills.

• Must have the ability to communicate with people with a positive attitude in a highly intense work environment.

• Must be efficient, and reliable with a good attendance record.

• Remote work not available for this position.

• Must be bi-lingual, English/Spanish, with the ability to speak, read, and write in both.

• Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen.
