Shipping and Receiving Associate:

This position performs the functions of the receiving and shipping operations. Prepare, package and ship outbound orders to customers and vendors. Receive product for inventory and production orders. Manage and organize raw materials and finished goods in-house inventories.

Primary Responsibilities:

Receiving Tasks

• Physically receive FedEx, UPS and LTL shipments
• Unpack each box, skid, and crate and inspect contents for quantity and quality
• Examine contents and compare with records, such as packing slips, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy of incoming shipment
• Record shipment data, such as damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and record keeping purposes

Shipping Tasks

• Examine contents and compare with records, such as packing slips, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy of outgoing shipment
• Wrap, pack and seal products to prepare materials for shipping using work devices such as hand tools and power tools
• Generate Shipment label using a computer and UPS shipping software
• Label and attach identifying tags to product packaging, or mark them with identifying information
• Secure cargo to skids using banding equipment, fasteners, and plastic shrink wrap
• Design and build custom pallets and crates to protect machinery and equipment during transit
• Physically load boxes, skids, crates, and custom machinery into vans, semi-trailers, or flat beds using a forklift, pallet truck, or cart
• Request, maintain inventory, and store shipping materials and supplies
• Maintain the cleanliness of the shipping area by cleaning and organizing daily at the end of the shift

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be organized and efficient with the ability to improve the existing processes in shipping and receiving
• Ability to record items correctly and inform purchasing when inventories are low for reordering
• Ability to operate heavy lifting equipment such as various fork lifts and cranes and posses a forklift certification
• Skill in palletizing, stacking, and otherwise placing and arranging items in storage locations in consideration of their size, shape, weight, quantity, type, stock number, letter and number codes, and other storage factors
• Ability to use hand and power tools (hammer, drill, hand saw, ect.) to assemble pallets, product containers, and crates
• Ability to work from 8am- 5pm, M-F and overtime as needed.
• Productivity with attention to detail is very important in this position
• Accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures is essential.
