Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Shipper/Receiver I to be based out of Santa Paula, CA. Reporting to Logistics Supervisor, this person will be performing a variety of shipping tasks, preparing items for shipment via UPS, FEDEX, LTL by picking, packing, and sorting.
The ideal candidate will have a 1 - 2 years shipping, receiving and material handling experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
What you'll do:
Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; packs items to ensure safe delivery
Possess ability to pull and pack orders for both freight and small package shipments
Checks items to be shipped against work orders to ensure accurate quantities, destination, and routing
Sorts packages, ensure accurate counts, labeling, and unpacks or logs inventory for shipment.
May operate dolly, pallet jack, electrical strap tools, and scales.
Manually loads and unloads supplies and shipments
Ensure full adherence to 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
Apply proper labels with correct postage/coinciding paperwork correctly.
Follows established departmental policies, standard work procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety and environmental.
Collaborates and communicates with logistics office and shipping & receiving.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Will take instructions from Logistics Coordinator and/or Logistics Supervisor
What you'll bring:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
One to two years of shipping/receiving/material handling experience in a manufacturing setting
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment
Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance
Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers / perform simple arithmetic
Ability to work basic computer software
Ability to lift up to 60lbs
Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment is a must
Within 3 months, you'll:
Complete your Atkore immersion program
Understand your team and your role within the team and how it will help delivery Atkore's strategy
Understand departmental and Atkore's policies and procedures
Prepare shipments for safe delivery
Sort and verify information is accurate on shipments
Use shipping equipment to load/unload shipments
Within 6 months, you'll:
Pull/pack small and freight packages for shipment
Add proper labels and verify shipments against job orders for accuracy.
Effectively communicate within the department
Within 12 months, you'll:
Ensure full adherence to 5S practices
Follow department standard work procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental policies.
