Opportunity: S&T Shift Supervisor (Night)

Location: Marion, North Carolina

Role Purpose:

Responsible for all operations and decisions required to obtain adequate and efficient operations including Safety, Production, Quality, Cost, Waste, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Employee Relations, Training and Planning.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a high level of productivity and quality:

o Observe employees on the job to see that correct methods are used and all safety procedures are followed.

o Expedite the flow and completion of work in progress.

o Maintain a balanced flow of materials.

o Read and analyse computer printouts and other pertinent information to coordinate production.

o Must be able to learn and work with Production & Inventory control system.

o Meet or exceed daily needs to achieve or surpass S&OP.

o Ensure proper handover between shifts by verifying housekeeping levels, safety information and relevant production information.

o Verify daily quality checks and provide the proper environment to achieve the best quality possible.

  • Ensure the Health & Safety for all employees on assigned shift

o Accountable for compliance with all Health and Safety federal, state, and local environmental and

o Accountable for compliance with Coats Health and Safety policies and implementation of global best practices

o Promotes Safety at all times with a strong safety presence on the plant floor

  • Provide proper training for all employees:

o Figure job assignments and allocations for each operator.

o Adjust job assignments as needed on the product mix.

o Inform employees of policies and practices and any changes that occur.

o Administer corrective and/or disciplinary action as needed

  • Operate the plant at below standard costs:

o Able to oversee all operations of the mill

o Keep track of various work orders and check the amount of production recorded to work orders.

o Must be able to perform all quality checks and have SPC knowledge for interpretation.

o Operate data operating system to perform production checks and correct any errors.

  • Foster continuous improvement in all areas:

o Must have good communication skills, verbal and written skills.

o Have good math skills

o Have good people skills

o Maintain attendance records and performance files on employees.

o Maintain Payroll records in Kronos

o Update and brief oncoming supervisors

o Maintain good work relations with employees and peers.

Education, Qualifications & Experience:

(Essential)

  • High School Diploma

  • Spinning Mill Experience

  • Good People Skills

  • Good Communication Skills (Verbal & Written)

  • Computer Skills Some Mechanical Skills

(Desirable)

  • College Degree in Industrial Management

VIEW JOBS 1/17/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-16T00:00 WestRock is currently seeking a night shift Maintenance Technician. 1659 E Court St, Marion, NC 28752 Career Opportunity: The Maintenance Technician conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. This position applies knowledge of electrical/electronics, and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunction and apply skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing. How you will impact WestRock: * Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment including buy not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges, and test equipment. * Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown, and in line with OSHA requirements. * Performs PM, PDM, responds to breakdowns and scheduled repairs as directed on electro-mechanical equipment, including folding carton machinery, air compressors, lift trucks, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, press operations, and perform machine set-up as required to assist production operations. * Performs fabrication, construction projects as assigned by Reliability Manager. * Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems, and inherent dangers involved. * Works with Planner/Scheduler to determine materials and costs involved for mechanical systems, and facilities work orders. * Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment. * Performs work schedule as assigned by Planner/Scheduler. * Completes training as scheduled by Reliability Manager. * Performs other duties assigned by Reliability Manager. * Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties. * This position will help keep department in specs within all 5S and SQF guidelines, and immediately reports any food safety concerns to management. * Must complete cGMP training and departmental QOP training. What you need to succeed: * Must have high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. * 2 years work-related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in work-related environment. * Basic understanding of mechanical theory and practices, safety and construction regulations, up-to-day technology and research, and the use and care of equipment. * Computer experience/operation and PLC programming a plus. * High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required. * Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines, and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work. * Excellent communication skills both verbally and written. * Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office.
