Job Description:

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term role that prepares an employee to perform a higher-level supervisory role, such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The Shift Supervisor Trainee performs work as directed in order to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities, completes basic operations and management skills training, and also learns about key aspects of the business (e.g., building customer loyalty through exceptional service) and CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, Shift Supervisor Trainees are eligible to be considered for promotion to open Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor positions. These key leadership roles support the CVS Store Management team in driving store execution and performance while building consumer loyalty to CVS/pharmacy through a focus on excellent customer service. When there is no manager onsite, the Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor leads the store staff, ensures that store operations run smoothly, and is responsible for ensuring the completion of all opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions:
1.Management

  • Work effectively with store management and store crews

  • Supervise the store's crew through assigning, directing and following up of all activities

  • Effectively communicate information both to and from store management and crews
    2.Customer Service

  • Assist customers with their questions, problems and complaints

  • Promote CVS customer service culture. (Greet, offer help, and thank)

  • Handle all customer relations issues in accordance with company policy and promote a positive shopping experience for all CVS customers

  • Maintain customer/patient confidentiality

Required Qualifications

Deductive reasoning ability, analytical skills and computer skills. Advanced communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some early morning, overnight and weekend shifts, to work overtime as needed.

Major Function: Reporting to the General Counsel, the Vice President, Risk Management and Insurance has broad responsibility for the protection of the organization and its staff from unexpected loss. He/she advises and consults with senior leadership and the Board on potential sources of loss and makes decisions on how to eliminate or minimize risk. His/her major areas of responsibility. include the oversight, coordination, supervision and technical competence in the following areas: B. Experience. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration including specific experience in Risk Management. C. Education: Master's degree required. RN/MD, JD or MJ preferred. Clinical background preferred. D. Certification /Licensure: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality desired (CPHQ). Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management desired (CPHRM). * Risk Program Operations: * Works in conjunction with senior leadership in organizational operations, quality, legal services, compliance and others * Assures effective administration of risk management program * Accumulates risk management cost data for budgetary and historical purposes; develops and administers annual department budget * Complies with various codes, laws, rules, and regulations concerning patient care/safety, including those mandated by state and federal agencies, incident reporting, also includes the investigation activities of federal, state, and local enforcement authorities * Assures all documents generated for the purposes of risk management are created and maintained in a manner that optimizes all protections afforded by law from discoverability * Maintains awareness of local, state and federal activities that may affect risk management programs * Identifies department staffing needs, recruits, hires and orients appropriately * Develops and implements departmental and facility policies and procedures that affect liability exposures * Develops, coaches and mentors risk management department staff * Risk Reduction and Prevention * Conducts systems analyses to uncover and identify patterns that could result in compensable events * Assists with designing clinical risk mitigation activities within hospital departments * Minimizes risk by responding to directly or in concert with others, all regulatory/insurance survey report recommendations/deficiencies * Procures outside loss prevention services * Supports organization- wide patient safety and quality initiatives through direct participation in committees/task forces etc. * Develops and maintains collaborative consultant/process expert * Evaluates, chooses and implements risk management information systems to assure efficient functionality and effective processes of risk event reporting * Works with the medical staff office as appropriate to develop and maintain risk profiles on credentialed physicians Risk Financing * Plan, coordinate, and administer a comprehensive insurance program involving such activities as insurance purchasing, insurance consulting, claims coordination, and administration of captive and self-insured programs * Directs and coordinates all aspects of insurance management, the General Counsel for administrative write-offs to mitigate potential claims * Oversees the activity of external claims management services (TPA) * Assures timely risk evaluations of all potentially compensable events * Evaluates and documents risks involving actual or potential injury to patients, visitors and employees, collecting information necessary to prepare for defense of claims * Assures the preservation of evidentiary materials that may be related to a potentially compensable event * Coordinates external evaluation of evidentiary materials as requested * Collaborates with the Claims Manager to direct Inspira's response to discovery requests and interrogatories * Provides support of individuals involved in claims against Inspira * Coordinates claims conferences to with General Counsel, defense counsel, and TPA to determine strategy, reserves, and settlement recommendations * Oversees all claim reporting to NPDB and other medical/clinical boards * Attends mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences and trials as appropriate Risk Awareness * Assures communication of Risk Management Plan * Provides educational programs for all levels of staff on risk management topics * Provides education for medical and hospital staff, patients, families and community on patient rights and responsibilities * Promotes compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including but not limited to, NJDHHS, OSHA, EMTALA, HIPAA, Patient Safety Act reporting requirements, Medical Examiner requirements, Life Safety and Emergency Management * Serves as a point of contact to medico/legal/bioethical inquiries from hospital/medical staff, answering to the extent of their expertise and seeking appropriate internal resources as appropriate * Exhibits high level of skill in facilitation of various improvement and communication techniques, i.e. RCA, FMEA, SBAR * Works with others as appropriate to identify and address patterns with potential for negative
