Summary:
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for assisting management in monitoring the day-to-day activities of subordinates, aiding in monitoring associate productivity, assigning responsibility for specified work and/or functional activities within the framework set by management, giving work directions, and monitoring scheduling for adequate shift coverage. This position also maintains knowledge of and monitors compliance with all corporate standards and, through leadership and example, encourages the highest level of sales and customer service performance by other associates.

This position also performs all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by Management. This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to the Store Manager or General Manager, depending on local requirements.Essential Functions:Monitors and observes the day-to-day activities of subordinates, coordinates breaks for hourly associates, and keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems Completes opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures Coordinates with management for on-the-job training of new associates

Operates cash register and voids transactions as needed while following all HMSHost cash handling policies and procedures, and maintains proper security of cash at all times

Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or use of a hand truck Implements product rotation based on product code dates in warehouse and concepts, orders product and participates in physical inventory counts as required

Resolves customer complaints in a manner consistent with company policy, and with customer satisfaction in mind

Practices excellent food safety and sanitation practices and complies with HACCP standards

Monitors compliance with safety guidelines, builds awareness about safety, and reports any safety concerns to management

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:Requires a High School diploma or equivalent (GED)Requires a minimum of 6 months supervisory/lead experience

Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers

Food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience preferred

Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions

Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs

Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for effectively leading a production team in the efficient and safe production of Hexacomb products. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES: Coordinate activity with the production manager to plan and manage daily and weekly schedules to meet production goals, prioritize work orders, maintain quality requirements, and assure an even flow of work through all the departments with to increase up-time and minimize unscheduled downtime. Schedule work, coordinate production activities, provide direct oversight of employees, approve time records, communicate and implement company policy. Engage in employee development activities, make recommendations on employee hire, promotion and disciplinary action. Maintain a clean, safe and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all employees. Conduct employee training on all equipment, protocols, production standards, safety regulations and waste control on an ongoing basis. Analyze production performance, identify opportunities, make recommendations for process and equipment improvement, establish and execute goals. Supervise efficient operation of equipment including the inspection of materials, products and equipment to detect and/or prevent malfunctions. Participate in production meeting and provide updates as needed. Request materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services as needed. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education equivalent to high school diploma required. Some college preferred. Four (4) years' previous experience in a supervisory capacity at a manufacturing facility. Previous experience in coaching, training, teambuilding, performance development, and conflict resolution. Established knowledge of corrugated and packaging manufacturing machinery, concepts, practices, and procedures including continual improvement processes and safety practices. Working knowledge of manufacturing systems including electronic software. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests. Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently. Strong listening, evaluating, and problem solving skills. Ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines. Solid analytical, mechanical, and mathematical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals throughout the company on departmental procedures, policies, practices, and requests for information. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and communicate with production team and management. Previous work experience as a member of a team, or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing between team members. Able to work flexible hours as needed.
