Job Description:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for assisting management in monitoring the day-to-day activities of subordinates, aiding in monitoring associate productivity, assigning responsibility for specified work and/or functional activities within the framework set by management, giving work directions, and monitoring scheduling for adequate shift coverage. This position also maintains knowledge of and monitors compliance with all corporate standards and, through leadership and example, encourages the highest level of sales and customer service performance by other associates.

This position also performs all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by Management. This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to the Store Manager or General Manager, depending on local requirements.Essential Functions:Monitors and observes the day-to-day activities of subordinates, coordinates breaks for hourly associates, and keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems Completes opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures Coordinates with management for on-the-job training of new associates

Operates cash register and voids transactions as needed while following all HMSHost cash handling policies and procedures, and maintains proper security of cash at all times

Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or use of a hand truck Implements product rotation based on product code dates in warehouse and concepts, orders product and participates in physical inventory counts as required

Resolves customer complaints in a manner consistent with company policy, and with customer satisfaction in mind

Practices excellent food safety and sanitation practices and complies with HACCP standards

Monitors compliance with safety guidelines, builds awareness about safety, and reports any safety concerns to management

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:Requires a High School diploma or equivalent (GED)Requires a minimum of 6 months supervisory/lead experience

Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers

Food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience preferred

Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions

Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs

Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions

Exemplifies the RML REACH (Service Excellence) culture by demonstrating respect, excellence, appreciation, concern and honor in all interactions with patients, families, co-workers, and as identified in departmental and hospital-wide behavior expectations. Provides direct supervision of food service personnel, producing timely and effective service; monitors service and meals for quality and resolves problems. Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures concerning the sanitary preparation, service, and delivery of meals. Coordinates the training of new hires and evaluates competency of service personnel. ##Provides ongoing training and support to food service staff. Organizes and directs staff in their daily activities. Monitors performance of staff and provides remedial training and coaching as needed. Schedules food service staff to meet the needs of the department completing schedules in a timely and equitable manner. Ensures that adequate amounts of food of the proper quality are purchased, prepared, and assembled for service. Performs environmental and sanitation rounds to ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and infection control standards. Ensures performance of appropriate quality assurance testing of equipment as required and participates in collecting quality assurance and improvement data. Performs patient satisfaction rounds and activities to ensure patient food service needs and requests are met.# Performs #education # consistency diet and simplified therapeutic diet, food and drug interaction teaching to patients and families. Completes all functions related to the daily delivery of cash for the cafeteria and hostess cart, counting of sales, and reconciliation of the daily sales report and month end activities. Represents Food and Nutrition Services on committees and task forces and in meetings when required. Ensures catering requests meet quality standards and are set up in a timely and attractive manner.# Completes month end catering invoices. Performs vendor invoice reconciliation and accounts payable function. Performs routine food and supply inventory and purchasing taking into account patient census. Fills in and supports Food Services staff as needed. May travel for meetings. Attends and participates in department meetings, inservices, and reviews as required. Proficient in Meditech and other computer programs that support the activities of the department. Stooping or kneeling to pick items up from the floor or to remove and replace items from lower shelves. Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) are often necessary. Must be able to operate equipment used for the job.
