Job Description:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for assisting management in monitoring the day-to-day activities of subordinates, aiding in monitoring associate productivity, assigning responsibility for specified work and/or functional activities within the framework set by management, giving work directions, and monitoring scheduling for adequate shift coverage. This position also maintains knowledge of and monitors compliance with all corporate standards and, through leadership and example, encourages the highest level of sales and customer service performance by other associates.

This position also performs all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by Management. This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to the Store Manager or General Manager, depending on local requirements.Essential Functions:Monitors and observes the day-to-day activities of subordinates, coordinates breaks for hourly associates, and keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems Completes opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures Coordinates with management for on-the-job training of new associates

Operates cash register and voids transactions as needed while following all HMSHost cash handling policies and procedures, and maintains proper security of cash at all times

Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or use of a hand truck Implements product rotation based on product code dates in warehouse and concepts, orders product and participates in physical inventory counts as required

Resolves customer complaints in a manner consistent with company policy, and with customer satisfaction in mind

Practices excellent food safety and sanitation practices and complies with HACCP standards

Monitors compliance with safety guidelines, builds awareness about safety, and reports any safety concerns to management

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:Requires a High School diploma or equivalent (GED)Requires a minimum of 6 months supervisory/lead experience

Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers

Food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience preferred

Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions

Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs

Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions

Grace & Co. a leading manufacturer of Specialty Chemicals is seeking a Shift Supervisor to work at its Curtis Bay facility. This position will be responsible for overseeing the operation and safety of its employees during both day and night shift. Background Information: All employees at the Curtis Bay Site are expected to work safely. Each employee has environment, health and safety roles and responsibilities. The employee is required to participate in achieving compliance with our EHS Policies including, but not limited to, emergency preparedness and response as defined in site-wide and local area documentation. Job Description * Directly supervises employees in the specialty chemicals manufacturing setting. * Analyzes production to estimate worker hours and create production schedules that meet both internal and external needs. * Conducts off shift/last minute call-ins for coverage and ensures payroll accuracy within work hour tracking system. * Responsible for start-up, shutdown and normal process operation to include manual operation of the process using field controls. * Assure regulatory compliance, including environmental and process safety, and a safe workplace for all employees. Address hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner. * Facilitates team root cause analysis (RCA) and carries out initial incident investigations. * Directs response to emergency situations to include emergency shutdown procedures. * Coaches and counsels operations personnel in the assignment of duties. * Conduct regular area tours and shift meetings to engage each team member and address performance issues. * Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met. * Inspects and measures product to verify conformance to specifications. Utilizes quality control system, SPC and response charts to implement corrective actions in a timely manner. * Directs workers in adjusting equipment and processes to correct products which fail to meet quality standards. * Assesses team capability and coordinates/fulfills team training requirements * Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. * Interprets various sets of data and determines how to resolve/troubleshoot complex equipment/systems * Maintain housekeeping standards (5S) by performing requisite audits. * Complete all regulatory testing and conduct safety meetings for operations personnel as required. * Enter SAP notifications as required for maintenance and indentifies/facilitates required work permits (Zero Energy, Line Break, etc.) including 'redlining' of such documents. * Verifies that maintenance work has been completed and closes out corresponding work orders. * Inform operations personnel of planned maintenance by action as a liaison between maintenance and operations through effective communication. * Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. * Analyzes and resolves production issues to include enforcing labor relation's policies and resolving grievances. * Maintains time and production records; including daily shift reports clearly communicating performance/issues.
