Georgia Pacific in Perry, Fl is looking for a Shift Leader for our Cellulose Manufacturing Facility. The Shift Leader will be responsible for performance management, development, and coaching of operators within an ownership-based work system environment so that each operator and team can be successful. The Shift Leader will also provide leadership and direction for operations and shift maintenance, facilitate operating issues mill-wide on shift and be responsible for mill-wide efforts to safely achieve performance goals.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Leading, mentoring and developing hourly employees utilizing the MBM Guiding Principles and Operations Excellence tools to improve capability and performance to create the greatest value

  • Coordinating and "running the mill" while on shift with primary focus on safety, quality, reliability, production, cost, and housekeeping

  • Applying judgement, critical and economic thinking skills, and the sense of urgency necessary to make operational decisions consistent with the company's risk philosophy that create the greatest value

  • Allocating personnel resources as needed during shift (i.e. shift maintenance) - challenge whether filling the job is required or if additional personnel is needed for call-ins

  • Maintaining a high-level knowledge of work processes such that assistance with problem solving and troubleshooting (RCA techniques) can be shared with crew members for development

  • Participating in skills qualification and knowledge evaluation assessments for operators in order to assist in talent gap closure plans and ensure timely skills advancement and learning

  • Assisting in managing competing priorities in a flow-to-work environment and providing on-shift coaching and feedback to Team Coordinators, control room operators, field personnel, and support personnel

  • Managing safety in an operations setting (i.e. setting and communicating work standards, teaching the right way to do a job, determining who's qualified to do the work, observing employees in action, providing performance feedback [positive and corrective], rolling out safety policies/procedures, managing safety suggestions, and dealing with injuries and near misses, etc.)

  • Utilizing effective communication, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills in order to acquire, share, and apply knowledge (including effective measures) to improve decisions and results

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Two years or more of leadership experience successfully coaching team members on their performance and helping to improve overall individual and team performance

  • Previous experience troubleshooting, problem solving, and understanding of root cause analysis techniques

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products: Word (typing documents), Excel (pulling reports & entering data), PowerPoint (giving presentations) & Outlook (sending emails)

  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends

  • Experience sharing personal point of view and holding difficult conversations

  • Experience utilizing business acumen in regard to labor costs, labor strategies, staffing, and training

You will also be responsible for training and supporting the drive-ins' employees to ensure we provide quality food in a clean, safe and efficient manner so that our guests will have an enjoyable experience at Sonic! The job duties include: \n\n\tManages, trains, and coaches Working Partners/General Managers and conducts management orientation. \n\tDirects and assigns employees as needed to ensure all aspects of service meet operational standards \n\tOversee multiple drive-in employees and management in performing all duties in the Basic Stations (Fountain & Frozen, Dresser, Front Swamp, Back Swamp, Grill, Switchboard, Expeditor, Food Prep, Carhop, Skating Carhop and if applicable Drive-Thru) as needed and depending on store volume, during a shift to ensure the preparation (portion control), temperature, packaging, appearance, presentation, taste and service of all menu items meet operational standards. \n\tAdheres to and monitors management compliance of the drive-in employee handbook, policies and practices. \n\tTakes appropriate action to address employee issues and policy violations and immediately reports all employee issues, complaints and policy violations to his/her immediate supervisor. \n\tReviews employee and drive-in management work schedules in a timely manner to ensure continuous ability to properly serve guests in accordance with Sonic Drive-In policy and applicable law. \n\tMonitors multiple drive-in cost control procedures for food, labor, paper and inventory. Takes immediate corrective action when necessary. \n\tMonitors performance of vendors. Takes immediate corrective action when necessary. \n\tAudits drive-in employment-related records and payroll records. \n\tReinforces the importance of placing guest needs first to drive-in management on a consistent basis. \n\tResponds to escalated guest requests and complaints in a respectful manner. Takes immediate corrective action when necessary. \n\tRecruits, interviews and hire management team members to achieve proper staffing levels. \n\tApproves compensation levels of drive-in employees and managers within company guidelines. \n\tPrepares all necessary operational reports for multiple drive-ins. Develops appropriate action plans to resolve unfavorable financial and/or sales trends. \n\tDevelops and implements a marketing plan for region. \n\nAdditional Requirements: \n\tHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
