The Shift Charge Nurse has authority, responsibility, and accountability to provide clinical and administrative leadership on her/his shift.
This position reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Graduate of an approved accredited nursing school required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or other relevant bachelors' degree from an accredited school required. Current employees of Cooley Dickinson who do not hold a BSN can be hired into the Shift Charge Nurse position provided they matriculate into a BSN program within one year of start date. Shift Charge Nurses hired prior to September 1, 2016 are grandfathered into their current position without needing a BSN or matriculating into a program
Current Massachusetts licensure to practice as a registered nurse (RN) required
Current CPR certification required
Three (3) years current experience in relevant clinical specialty required. Current experience must be within two years of hire into the Shift Charge position
Demonstrated excellent leadership skills and clinical competence in area of responsibility required
