Pathways is the largest homeless shelter in Los Angeles, providing a diverse group of services. Comprehensive Case Management Services, Affordable Housing Assistance, Transitional Housing Programs, Permanent Housing Placements, JWCH Mobile Clinic, Department of Health Services, USC-HIV Study/Prevention.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring daily duties of on ground operational staff is accomplished through zone assignment, shift reporting, schedule adherence, and inter-department communication

  • Perform interdepartmental daily facility briefings which communicate facility issues/activities

  • Ensure quality participant engagement methods are being used in operational teams participant contact through knowledge of policy and procedures as well as ethical/clinical standards of care

  • Ability to implement crisis interventions, de-escilation and motivational interviewing methods to support participant care/staff safety

  • Knowledge of quality incident reporting standards, early grievance intervention, and crisis protocol.

  • Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflict, dealing with un-cooperative clients

Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED

Experience:

  • 1 years in human services, security background

Knowledge:

  • HIPPA, Programmatic standards of operation and clinical engagement, clinical documentation methods, client focused ideology

Technology Skills:

  • Basic Microsoft operating system navigation, outlook, word, excel, power-point

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication, set priorities, handle- multiple task, problem solving, decision making, interpret data, detail oriented, accurate, analytical, organize, read/write; proficient in understanding and communication of the spoken and written English language, meet established deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HMIS navigation, 1 year working with targeted population

Work schedule: Interns must be available to work a minimum of 24 hours each week. As a Student Trainee (Passport), you will: * Provide specific support for higher-graded staff in the administration of the U.S. passport program. Assignments include, but are not limited to: applying established instructions, practices, or precedents in performing related procedural tasks in processing documents; sorting incoming applications or other documents and correcting errors based on a review of similar cases or samples. * Verify basic applicant data; and identify and reconcile obvious discrepancies using standard information sources. * Collect additional data from appropriate government offices as instructed; assemble appropriate forms and reports, and enter data into automated systems. * Distribute documents to appropriate personnel; respond to routine procedure inquiries; and use personal computers and software programs in an office environment to extract, revise or sort information from files, records or databases. * Perform all other duties as assigned. Pathways Internship Program candidates must meet the U.S. Department of State (DOS) qualification standards applicable to the position being filled. All applicants must meet the qualifications by the closing date of the announcement in order to be considered for the position. Eligibility Requirements: * A U.S. Citizen; * 16 years or older by the closing date of this announcement; * Enrolled or formally accepted for enrollment as a full-time or half-time student into an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program, or enrolled or formally accepted for enrollment in a certificate program; * Cumulative GPA of 2.0 at time of application and must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA throughout the entire Pathways Internship appointment; and * Degree does not have to be related to the position/series; however to be eligible, candidate must meet the agency-developed or OPM qualification standards for the position to which the Intern may be converted. * All transcripts or educational supporting documentation must reflect a projected graduation date on or after Fall 2019. Certificate Requirements: * Undergraduate Certificates must contain a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours. * Graduate certificates must contain a minimum of 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours. * For study at a business or technical school, 36 weeks of study (20+ classroom hours per week) is comparable to 1 academic year above high school. All academic degrees and course work must be completed at an institution that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.
