The Shelter Advocate will model an outstanding customer service to all stakeholders and is under the supervision of the Shelter Coordinator. The Shelter Advocate assumes responsibility for the provision of services to homeless Victims of Domestic Violence and Generally Homeless.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shelter Advocate Support Functions:
Oversee shelter operations including daily maintenance, meals, and coordination of activities for both women and children.
Provide resource information and referral to shelter clients.
Enforce shelter rules and regulations, including providing verbal and written reprimand when clients are out of compliance.
Provide stabilizing influence in family stress situations, to include modeling appropriate parenting, cohabitating, and cleaning instruction.
Receive after hour calls for shelter placement of domestic violence victims.
Receive, organize, maintain, and distribute inventory of donated household and personal items.
Complete reports as required.
Attend staff meetings and training as required.
Perform other responsibilities as needed.
Other duties as assigned:
Follow safety protocol and standards.
Assist Manager and Director as required/requested.
Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as directed.
