SharePoint Development and Communications Intern

POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Arlington-VA, Seattle-WA or Honolulu-HI

Conservation International is seeking a tech-savvy summer intern to support the development and migration of user-friendly, modern SharePoint sites. Supervised by CI's Operations and Policy Team, the intern will learn and partner with a range of individuals and teams from across operational units, communications, safety and security, and beyond. This is a great learning opportunity for an individual interested in gaining operational experience at a global non-profit organization while creating engaging and inclusive content for our diverse 1700+ team members.

Tasks will range from migrating documents and site content from a previous intranet portal to a new modern SharePoint site, developing new SharePoint pages, and providing related administrative and logistical support as needed. The intern would engage with key stakeholders to vision out what is possible, curating options for content design and presentation that best accommodates the information and communication needs. The ideal candidate would have experience in cultivating and developing engaging content for a wide international audience, sharing creative vision while bringing technical understanding and delivery of SharePoint.

This internship is available remotely or hybrid in an established CI office. This is a paid internship with flexibility up to full-time hours. The intern must provide their own computer and internet connection when working remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with various CI teams to migrate or build new modern SharePoint sites, reviewing existing content, identifying content layouts, leveraging tech features, and scheduling progress and feedback meetings with key stakeholders.

  • Assist in finalizing CI's multi-lingual organizational policy SharePoint site, ensuring policies are accessible and detailed communications.

  • Work directly with IT and key stakeholder teams to document governance and knowledge base maintenance requirements.

  • Research and propose best practices and framework for transferring and communicating organizational policy information for an improved external audience experience on conservation.org.

  • Assist with visual design, copy editing, and writing to ensure content adheres to brand voice and style guidelines.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Typical office environment with the ability to attend virtual meetings and conference calls across different time zones.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Working towards the completion of a bachelor's degree or a recent graduate (not exceeding 3 months post-graduation)·

  • High School or Secondary School education.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams, and web researching skills.

  • Strong experience with SharePoint and Microsoft 365.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills with the ability to prioritize, manage, and complete high-volume tasks by deadlines.

  • Task focus with a proven ability to work effectively with others.

  • Ability to work under general supervision and take initiative to solve problems under supervisor's direction.

Preferred

  • Experience with website building software and design preferred.
