HJF is seeking a motivated SharePoint Developer III to join the Center for Global Health Engagement (CGHE) and assist in the management and development of SharePoint solutions in both SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint 2019 in on-site environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in SharePoint development, with a focus on utilizing Script Editor Web Parts, Content Editor Web Parts, and SharePoint Designer to customize and enhance SharePoint sites. The proposed SharePoint Developer will work on the design, development, testing, implementation, operations, and maintenance support of specific sites, tools, workflows, databases, libraries, etc. to support process automation, efficiency improvement, and other knowledge management efforts.

This is a Full Time 40 hours a week position for a duration of 1 year, beginning on the first day of employment.

This position will be in support of the CGHE with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), which works to lead, integrate and synchronize the University's contributions to Department of Defense (DoD) global health engagement (GHE) and national security objectives by providing a hub for GHE thought leadership and knowledge, strategic communications and outreach, operational support, research, and capability integration of education, training and planning. HJF provides direct scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CGHE.

Note: This position requires U.S. Citizenship.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and maintain SharePoint solutions using Script Editor Web Parts and Content Editor Web Parts.

  • Customize SharePoint sites by implementing scripts, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to meet business requirements.

  • Assist in the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of SharePoint on-site environments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SharePoint sites and customizations.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical solutions aligned with business needs.

  • Develop, customize, and maintain SharePoint sites, lists, libraries and SharePoint Designer workflows according to requirements provided by the customer.

  • Develop workflows in SharePoint or web application to automate processes in building new workflows.

  • Customize the appearance and behavior of site pages to optimize user experience.

  • Enforce site standards, including security policies, to ensure the governance policies and processes are maintained.

  • Coordinate with the team to create and maintain a file naming convention, file architecture, and other tasks in support of data management efforts.

  • Prepare functional and user documentation to include design and development of training material and implement advanced SharePoint solutions for the customer.

  • Communicate with end users, team lead, and team members on the details of the proposed design, and progress on the work.

  • Use a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques, as well as client feedback, to understand needs of the target group, identify new problem areas, and generate insights to improve the client experience.

  • Extend SharePoint functionality with forms, flowcharts, process mapping, web parts, and application technologies.

  • Provide hands-on instruction on sites usage, maintenance, and workflows to allow continued use and adaption after development.

  • Develop and incorporate measures of performance and measures of effectiveness into SharePoint and other systems to inform process improvement, efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Create mirrored systems on two networks and facilitate data flow between the systems, as appropriate.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical fiend (Visual Communications, Design, etc.)
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with all aspects of SharePoint, including roles, permissions and hierarchy, taxonomy, infrastructure design, metadata and search, SharePoint services, SharePoint Designer, and creation of SharePoint List forms.

  • Familiarity in working with DoD, military, and federal stakeholders.

  • Solid understanding of SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint 2019 on-site platforms.

  • Proficiency in utilizing Script Editor Web Parts and Content Editor Web Parts for customizations.

  • Experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery for SharePoint development.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to issue resolution.

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place in an office setting.

Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required.
