Salary: $12.00 - $16.00 (Based on position.)
The Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks is seeking Temporary Part-time employees (Community Aides)to work at our Shake and Bake Family Fun Center located at 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue and is anticipated to reopen in April 2021. Please see description below of the various positions that are currently available for Recruitment.
Welcomes and engages all visitors in a manner becoming of a BCRP (City) employee. Guides guests through activities to ensure a great experience.
Walks around keeping an eye on all activity to ensure smooth transitions between scheduled groups. Anticipates the needs of participants and makes contact with the appropriate staff for resolution. Manage number of participants entering to ensure capacity control. Displays excellent customer service skills and other duties as assigned.
Receives, counts and disburses money and ensures correct payment and change. Operates a cash register or cash drawer.
Balances cash and checks against register receipts and payment stubs. Issues receipts for paid services. Displays excellent customer service skills and other duties as assigned.
Serves food and beverage in accordance with all Health Department sanitation guidelines. Removes all waste from counter tops, wiping the counter down to sanitize after every customer.
Participates in set-up of stand, arranges inventory, notifies Stand Lead of any inventory deficiency or shortages. Performs clean-up duties in the stand to maintain the sanitation and appearance of the work area, including cleaning equipment. Displays excellent customer service skills and other duties as assigned.
Disk Jockey (DJ):
Familiarity and ability to correctly utilize a range of equipment such as mixers, microphones, and amplifiers. Plays music to create and maintain atmosphere and/or keep people engaged throughout their experience.
Ability to choose music to suit the audience's taste while staying in compliance with facility's music policy. Have knowledge of music trends. Displays excellent customer service skills and other duties as assigned.
Perform daily lane and machine care. Troubleshoot pinsetter machines andservicepinsetters correcting pin jams, ball returns, and minor malfunctions.
Perform diagnostics and minor adjustments/repairs. Clean and maintain the proper condition of lanes, approaches, pin decks, kickbacks, and ball returns. Maintain Pinsetter Maintenance and Cleaning Schedule. Display excellent customer service skills and other duties as assigned.
Plan and prepare for each shift, monitoring scheduling and performance, problem solving during each shift. Communicate with General Manager regarding any issues during each shift.
Take action to ensure the team is meeting BCRP standards. Monitors safety, security, cash handling and profitability, and communicate with the next Shift Manager to help prepare him/her to run a great shift. Complete bank deposits and all assigned reports and paperwork. Displays excellent customer service skills and other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
Preferred: Two years of experience in customer service, management, leading recreational activities, structured activities or programs with youth ages 5-13. (Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.)
