Sewing Shop Manager

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Sewing Shop Manager for a long-term role with a company that manufacturers awnings in Portland, OR. The person in this position will lead a team, cut/sew to specifications, and will coordinate with the overall Production Manager.

PAY: $23-$30/hr

Sewing Shop Manager Responsibilities:

• Oversee sewing team including daily assignments, training, and general supervision

• Complete an assortment of production related tasks; laying out, cutting, and sewing awnings

• Read drawings and cut/sew to exactly those specifications

• Foresight to come up with new ideas and more effective ways to get the job done

• Performs quality assurance measures pre-/post-production

• Reports inventory levels and stock to be reordered to the production manager

• Keeps equipment and tools well organized and clean

Sewing Shop Manager Qualifications

• 3+ years experience sewing heavy fabrics (on industrial machines preferred)

• Experience troubleshooting industrial sewing machines is a plus

• Prior experience leading a team is preferred

• High attention to detail

• Effective problem-solving skills

• Competent project management skills and proven record working with demanding deadlines and production schedules

• Able to lift 50 lbs as part of daily routine
