The Quality team is dedicated to implementing a culture and practice of excellence throughout the entire value chain of the organization, to increase customer satisfaction and improve profitability in a sustainable way.

The role reports to the Manager, Senior Sales Staff and is located in Plano, TX. As a Services Quality Manager, encompasses lead position in the Integrated DC Power Field Services Organization and is responsible for Customer Installation and Engineering Quality, Supplier and Subcontractor Quality, Installation Safety, and Services Reliability. This individual works closely with functional groups within services nationally and quality functions in Plano, Texas to implement global quality initiatives.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include managing and driving quality categories focusing on customers, suppliers and subcontractors, installation safety and service reliability.

  • The customer quality category supports North American customers in coordination with the ABB Integrated DC Power Headquarters' quality group.

  • Working closely with our internal installation and engineering teams and sub-contract partners, the design organization, component engineering and supplier quality engineers on various quality issues.

  • Develop and review Root Cause/Corrective Action responses before they are sent to the customer to ensure that service failures have been investigated properly to determine the root cause and that implemented corrective actions are effective.

  • Responsible for customer satisfaction on all service quality and reliability related issues.

  • The supplier quality category supports the strategic supplier/ sub-contractor quality functions responsible for providing technical assistance to the Supply Chain organization with a focus on

  • supplier/ sub-contractor selection, quality scorecards, supplier/ sub-contractor audits, supplier/ sub-contractor quality development.

  • Manages a team responsible for the auditing of installation and engineering jobs delivered throughout North America.

  • Auditing checklists based on ABB and customer standards, safety protocols, and other installation and engineering requirements. Performs quality management system audits to assure compliance to ISO9000/TL9000 requirements.

Your background

  • A degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred) or related field and minimum of 10 years of experience in the areas of Quality and Reliability Management in a services, manufacturing or design environment.

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.

  • Experience with power supply design, manufacturing, installation, testing, and failure analysis is also desired.

  • Proficiency with quality management systems, problem solving methods, and statistical analysis tools.

  • Ability to communicate in the English language, write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation. Ability to assimilate procedural and technical issues and effectively present summaries and communicate actions taken to resolve incidents.

  • Knowledge of Telecommunications Equipment Installation and Engineering Requirements (knowledge of AC and DC Power Systems and related equipment is highly desirable)

  • Ability to read, to interpret, and to understand technical requirements and apply to power

  • systems installations, using relevant information to determine whether documented requirements and standards are met
