Service Utility Person

Working under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor the position is responsible for performing both light and heavy manual tasks requiring some specialized skills or knowledge in maintenance, mechanical trades and/or operations. Performs janitorial services for upkeep of building and grounds of the treatment facility.

Typical job duties may include but are not limited to:

• Work is usually done as a member of a crew under close supervision of the Service Utility Supervisor.

• Assists maintenance department and operations personnel in the maintenance and operation of the treatment facility and related facilities.

• Maintains work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

• Loads, unloads moves and transports materials and equipment, freight and supplies.

• Cleans plant buildings and related facilities.

• Performs heavy manual tasks requiring some specialized skill or knowledge, assisting maintenance mechanics, maintenance men electricians and operations personnel engaged in the maintenance and operation of the treatment plant and related facilities.

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes, polishes floors, dusts, etc.

• Cleans restrooms, restock supplies of soap, paper towels and toilet tissue.

• Cleans walls, windows, doors, etc. as directed.

• Paints inside and outside building, tanks, equipment, etc. as directed.

• Operates vehicles and equipment assigned to the wastewater plant.

• Assists in snow and ice removal from roadways and walkways at the wastewater treatment plant and its related facilities.

• Must be available for on-call and/or overtime duty and for scheduled and unscheduled tasks.

• Cleans and flushes tanks, weirs, channels, pipes and other treatment processes throughout the plant and related facilities.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

• Valid PA Class C Driver's license; Class B CDL with tanker and air brake certification a plus.

• Minimum 2 years prior experience in building maintenance or grounds keeping a plus.
