Starting at $18/hr with growth potential to $20/hr within 18 months!

Due to continued growth, we currently have an opening for a Petroleum Service Technician in Training. The Service Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and service of automotive, electronic, hydraulic and/or mechanical petroleum equipment and products as applicable. If selected for this position, you will train with an experienced technician in the Omaha, NE area while pursuing certifications in our trade. After the training period (generally 6-9 months), we provide a service vehicle and the technician will respond to service calls in the Lincoln, NE area, as well as central and western Nebraska. Candidates must be willing to travel on a regular basis across Nebraska and occasionally to South Dakota and Kansas.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots, performs repairs and preventative maintenance on gasoline dispensers and related equipment.

  • Installs, troubleshoots and maintains Point of Sale (POS) equipment.

  • Monitors and is accountable for accuracy of parts inventory on service van including, but not limited to, transfers of parts to appropriate jobs and other service techs as applicable as well as returns to warehouse facilities.

  • Analyzes electronic and mechanical problems and provide repairs as required.

  • Installs, programs and tests new equipment

  • Communicate with customers and explain technical issues to non-technical people.

  • Present yourself professionally as a representative of Seneca Companies and be prompt when making service calls.

  • On-call rotation and overtime available!

Candidates that have a strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude with experience working on motors, pumps, etc. are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • High school education or GED

  • 1-2 years experience in a maintenance or technical field preferred

  • Basic electrical knowledge and mechanical abilities

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally with occasional overnight stays

Inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Perform Maintenance of HVAC Equipment: Repairs and replaces defective equipment, components, or wiring including, but not limited to CAT II and III equipment: VFDs, boilers, electrical and refrigerant circuits, screw, scroll, and reciprocal compressors, rooftop systems up to 150 tons, Scroll chillers up to 200 tons. * Beginner-Intermediate level proficiency in independent troubleshooting of CAT II and III equipment. Introduction to centrifugal chillers and CAT I equipment. * Conduct Warranty Service Application: Independently inspects and test systems to verify functionality related to scroll chillers, rooftop units up to 150 tons, and all Category II and III equipment. * Perform Start Ups: Verify functionality of new CAT II & III equipment. Educate customers on proper use of equipment maintenance schedule, and operating manual. * Rebuilds: Leads the rebuild of a CAT II and III level unit. Directs level I technicians through hands-on demonstrations of all necessary steps. Introduced to centrifugal rebuilds from Lead and level III technicians. * Customer Service: Demonstrates professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication. Interacts with customer by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call. Explains technical information to technical and non-technical audience. * Support Sales: Communicates potential sales opportunities to Service Sales Representative through the tech tip program. Identifies opportunities for minor service and repair work through service agreements up to $5K. * Conduct Technician Training: Responsible for mentoring level I service technicians and trains on screw chillers, micro-techs, and CAT II & III equipment. * Document Performance: Records and reports billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required in a timely manner * Computer Usage: Knowledge of basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, word processing programs.
