PRODUCT SERVICES DIVISION

Title: Tool Repair Technician

Reports To: Service Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

On-the job training provided; experience preferred but not required

JOB SUMMARY

The Tool Repair Technician is responsible for repairing different types of portable power tools, pneumatic tools and other light construction equipment like compressors and generators within the following brands - DeWALT, Porter Cable, Bostitch and Black & Decker in our Factory Owned Service Center.

The position requires an individual to be able to follow a standardized repair process which would include the diagnosing / trouble-shooting of the tool failure, identifying a solution and then repairing the product.

Set in a team environment, the position is fast-paced and challenging where a successful candidate would need to possess strong time management skills, able to complete tasks correctly in a timely manner and work efficiently to produce results.

On-the-job training is provided along with competitive wage, incentives tied to performance and career advancement within technician role and within the overall Service Center.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or the equivalent and/or work-related experience

  • Possess mechanical aptitude and demonstrate repair experience if applicable

  • Ability to interpret mechanical diagrams, wiring schematics and printed servicing data;

  • Knowledge of electricity principles and air flow as it applies to a power source for power tools;

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in power tools and equipment

  • Be dependable, reliable and need minimal supervision;

  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations;

  • Possess the ability to meet and maintain daily/weekly/quarterly productivity goals without sacrificing quality;

  • Result focused, goal driven and deliver results from an individual and team perspective;

  • Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be able to be flexible with work schedule.

CORE COMPETENCIES

Maintenance & Repair:

  • Simple repairs to all portable electric and pneumatic tool, light construction equipment, & outdoor products

  • Troubleshooting tool failure--fully or partially disassembling unit to examine components for wear/defects and replacing parts that are worn or defective

Client Relations:

  • In certain situations, explain needed services to customer to gain approval to proceed

Safe Work Practices:

  • Assisting with maintenance of shop equipment and maintains clean and safe work environment

  • Inspect workplaces for safe working environments and report unsafe conditions

  • Properly inspect tools and equipment for safe operation prior to use, returning tools in good condition to appropriate storage area after use

Process Compliance & Administration:

  • Product testing completed repairs and ensuring quality of repair

  • Completing work orders using repair parts and labor to include pricing and pertinent customer information

  • Complying with all operating procedures & policies

  • Managing inventory by ensuring accuracy with parts and accessories

  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed

VIEW JOBS 11/20/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-18T00:00 <strong>Join MTG!  </strong><br /> Looking for an opportunity to showcase your Audio Video experience!  It is our goal to find the best Service Technicians for our Audio/Video Team!  As an A/V Service Tech, you will enjoy working with local customers, a strong office support team and minimal overnight travel.<br />  <br /> <strong>JOB SUMMARY</strong><br /> An A/V Service Technician is responsible for installation, programming, troubleshooting and repair of a wide variety of commercial low voltage systems with an emphasis on commercial audio/video systems.  An Audio Video Service Technician must excel in customer service skills and be capable of effective communication with clients, management and fellow employees.<br />  <br /> Requirements include above average proficiency in all responsibilities associated with the position and the capability to effectively work independently.  A Service Technician will be required to interface with the Service Coordinator and Project Managers as needed and deliver consistent, accurate and timely results.  It is expected that a Service Technician will share knowledge and technical expertise with other MTG team members. <br />  <br /> <strong>KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong> <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Effectively troubleshoot, diagnose and repair MTG supported systems</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Program various MTG installed or supported systems</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Download and manage existing system programs</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Participate in the administration and accuracy of client system records </li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Train clients on MTG installed or supported systems</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Perform tests and inspections of audio/video systems</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Document results of all inspections accurately</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Physical equipment and infrastructure installation such as: <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Install, wire, device and terminate all types of audio video devices and components including video displays, speakers, projectors, controllers, etc.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Install a wide variety of cable pathway/support systems and components</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Install, terminate, label and test a wide variety of low voltage cabling</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Assemble and mount a wide variety of equipment racks, cabinets and panels</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Install proper grounding equipment and wiring</li> </ul> </li> <li style="padding: 0;
