JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Service Technician

DEPARTMENT: Service

REPORTS TO: Service Manager / Shop Foreman

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing customer vehicles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs maintenance and repair on customer vehicles.

  • Identifies problems with vehicles uses the diagnostic equipment.

  • Explains automotive repairs and issues and provides great customer service.

  • Plans repair procedures uses charts manuals and experience.

  • Tests the functionality of parts and systems.

  • Performs basic auto care and maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and tire rotation.

  • Repairs and replaces brake pads, wheel bearings, sensors and other parts.

  • Performs routine maintenance and general mechanic work on vehicles.

  • Prepares to get additional certification as needed.

  • Learns with hands-on training.

  • Helps keep repair shop clean and organized.

  • Keeps a professional appearance.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • ASE Certifications.

  • Computer skills required: Reynolds and Reynolds DMS, Google Workplace (GMAIL, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Meet)

  • Other skills required:

  • Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training required.

  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly customer service.

  • Must read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.

  • Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment.
