Job Description: Summary

A Busser will exceed the expectations of all guests in a multitude of tasks that include, but are not limited to, assisting food service employees, cleaning tables, carrying dirty dishes, replacing soiled table linens; setting tables; replenishing supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes; and serving water, appetizers and coffee to patrons.

This position is a very visible position. The person having this position must comply with the property's dress code, possess good communication skills, and have the ability to resolve conflict and posses a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse employees are expected to greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Furthermore, Bussers must develop and maintain the company's culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners. Bussers must promote the Bunkhouse Mission in all actions and decisions and are accountable the the overall team.

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities

  • Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction

  • Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and adhere to dress code policies

  • Ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary

  • Wipe tables and seats with dampened cloths, and replace dirty tablecloths

  • Set tables with clean linens, condiments, and other supplies

  • Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning

  • Clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash

  • Perform serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in establishments such as cafeterias or dining rooms in order to facilitate customer service

  • Maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays

  • Serve ice water, coffee, and standard appetizers (i.e. bread/butter or chips/salsa) to patrons

  • Fill beverage and ice dispensers

  • Stock cabinets and serving areas with condiments, and refill condiment containers as necessary

  • Locate items requested by customers

  • Carry food, dishes, trays, and silverware from kitchens and supply departments to serving counters

  • Serve food to customers when waiters and waitresses need assistance

  • Clean and polish counters, shelves, walls, furniture, and equipment in food service areas and other areas of restaurants, and mop and vacuum floors

  • Carry trays from food counters to tables for cafeteria patrons

  • Replenish supplies of food and equipment at service bars/satellite service stations

  • Wash glasses and other serving equipment at bars

  • Garnish foods, and position them on tables to make them visible and accessible

  • Carry linens to and from laundry areas

  • Stock refrigerating units with wines and bottled beer, and replace empty beer keg

  • Mix and prepare flavors for mixed drinks

  • Slice and pit fruit used to garnish drinks

  • Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management at all times via email, log books, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the hotel are met

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area

  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition

  • Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property

  • Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements

  • Attend relevant meetings
