Provides advanced technical support to customers and field service technicians to solve complex problems at customer locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide "Front Line" telephone support to customer's calls regarding equipment problems. Provide expert telephone support to Key Field Service Technicians who experience trouble-shooting problems in the field.
Schedule and dispatch appropriate Field Service Technicians to customer sites when required. Works closely with R & D and Application Engineers to provide value added technical support and advice in new product development. Travels to customer sites to trouble-shoot complex equipment problems.
Must be ready and willing to travel when needed. Other duties may be assigned as needed
Will be required from time to time, to direct the efforts of other field engineers of the same level and below in the execution of these duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have or be able to reach expert level of technical knowledge on Optical systems.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. To show the utmost in professionalism and restraint when dealing with customers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar and line graphs.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have a valid driver's license, major credit card for travel emergencies and an up-to-date USA passport
