A Day in the Life:

As our Service Supervisor, the opportunity to provide world-class leadership skills is endless. While ensuring that all aspects of the luxury property are displayed at optimum levels, you will create an environment that will encourage training, development, and engagement. Primary responsibilities will consist of leading a team of Service Technicians to create a safe and dynamic environment for all residents and associates. Thorough knowledge of preparing budgets, trouble shooting /problem solving, equipment and appliance functionality, and developing relationships with the venders are the keys to your success.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage all maintenance work orders and unit turns

  • Manage maintenance team in regards to performance, job duties, and scheduling

  • Portray excellent customer service while working with residents

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various issues including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, sheet rock, etc.

  • Monitor and replenish maintenance inventory based on property needs, while staying within budget.

  • Complete on-going property and unit inspections as needed, in addition to documenting updates and areas for improvement

  • Coordinate with various vendors as needed in regards to outsourced work at the property.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required

  • BA preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years' previous experience in a Maintenance Supervisory role with a multifamily community preferred

  • EPA, CPO, and HVAC certifications preferred

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Recreation Supervisor is a full supervisory level classification in the Recreation series. A position assigned to this class is responsible for major comprehensive recreation programs in the City as well as administrative duties relating to project and budget management, marketing, city commissions and advisory boards. SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED: Direction is provided by the Community Services Manager. Responsibilities include direct or indirect supervision of Recreation/Human Services Coordinators and Leaders, contractors, clerical, part-time and volunteer personnel. Essential Functions The following are minimum qualifications necessary for entry into the classification. * Plans, oversees and supervises comprehensive recreational programs of cultural, arts, youth sports, contract classes, adult sports, senior citizen programs or other recreation programs involving the supervision of group instructors, contractors, and leaders in the planning of activities and events. * Determines long-range program plans and develops methods used in providing community recreation offerings. * Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates and disciplines subordinate employees, contractors, and volunteers. * Meets with individuals, community groups, school officials, commissions and advisory groups to assure that programs and activities are meeting changing needs of the community. * Prepares and administers annual budget for particular recreation programs and facilities. * Maintains profit and loss statements and related contracts for enterprise facilities; works closely with vendors and related agencies. * Organizes and encourages the formation of clubs, teams, leagues and special events; responds to inquiries or requests for service from interested community groups and citizens; interprets City policy for community groups, commissions, advisory boards and citizens; may provide staff assistance to advisory commissions and boards. * Participates in meetings to discuss and evaluate program techniques and content. * Supervises and participate in the design, preparation and distribution of recreation publicity including press releases, brochures, pamphlets, flyers and printed schedules; represents the department through the news media. * Maintains an inventory of necessary recreation supplies, equipment and vehicles and makes and initiates necessary purchases; monitors expenditures; approves purchases. * Recommends changes in Program staffing, program objectives, policies and procedures to assure maximum effectiveness and efficiency. * Prepares and submits a variety of reports and memoranda on a number of recreation related subjects. * Assists in the preparation of federal and state grants as well as seeking sponsorships, gifts and donations; gathers and interprets statistical and fiscal data and submits in report form; * Acts as Project Manager of assigned construction and/or special projects for the Recreation Division. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications The following are minimum qualifications necessary for entry into the classification. Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Recreation Supervisor. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of * Three years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience in the delivery of recreation or leisure time services AND * The equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in recreation, public administration, or related field. License/Certificate: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver's license. Employment Information The selected candidate must pass a thorough background investigation. The employee will be required to pay a portion of their annual earnings toward their retirement. The City of Oxnard does not participate in social security. Vacation/Annual Accrual Rates: Leave accrual rates vary between 6.24 – 11.78 hours per pay period based on years of service. Administrative Leave: Management employees are not compensated for overtime worked. However, the department director may authorize up to 40 hours of administrative leave in one year. Deferred Compensation: The City offers a number of deferred compensation programs that employees may participate in. Health and dental: The City contributes $400.00 per month toward medical insurance premiums and an additional $66.80 per month toward dental insurance premiums. Unused premium monies are paid to the employee. The City also contributes $136.00 per month in PEMHCA contributions which is paid to CALPERS. Holidays: The City observes 12 holidays per year Life Insurance: City employees receive Basic Life Coverage ($5,000) + AD&D ($10,000) + 1 times annual salary 100% paid by the City. Employees also have the option to purchase additional insurance.
