Department Description

Position is responsiblefor managing Business Development team focused on growing all business areasand for maximizing the total customer share of wallet of service accounts (i.e.cross-selling). Maintenance Partnering, Fleet Optimization and Parts &Repair. Individual interacts regularly with external customers and internalstakeholder functions to drive execution excellence. Continually improves theprogram to enhance customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and overallbusiness growth / profitability.


  • Management of Area Specialist Business Development Managers and Field Sales.

  • Business Development professional will lead front-end assessment of business opportunities leveraging Vestas Service team and its network of colleagues globally to provide service solutions.

  • Duties include building strategy to ensure Vestas meets FOI, Revenue and CM targets for all Business Areas revenue streams.

  • Structures deals with the full breadth of Vestas in mind to understand and support the organizational linkages and impacts.

  • Accountable for product line leadership and collaborates cross-functionally with colleagues to drive successfully transactions.

  • Develops service sales strategy and negotiates sound business deals with customers in accordance with company standards.

  • Strong participation in marketing activities including trade show and conference attendance and product marketing development.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Sales or Marketing. MBA degree preferred.

  • 7-10 years' experience in the following skill sets as they relate to Sales: technical sales, commercial customer communications, contract negotiation, or legal knowledge and has distinct expertise in at least one of these disciplines. Experience selling power generation equipment to utilities and/or in the wind industry or complex capital sales environment preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in the negotiation and closing of complex and/or long-cycle larger cap-ex agreements where long term partnering is crucial to success.

  • Demonstrated success in understanding commercial terms, and negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and customer needs.

  • Understanding of how to manage customer accounts and support team selling. Demonstrated aptitude to identify business opportunities and initiate customer contact including "cold calling."

  • Demonstrated success in understanding commercial terms, and negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and customer needs.

  • Excellent leadership skills; demonstrated ability in coaching, mentoring, motivating and developing employees to achieve a highly aligned, motivated and engaged team. Converts strategy into action oriented objectives and communicates the direction with passion.

  • Demonstrated continuous improvement and quality methodology skills. Effective issue resolution and structured problem solving methodology. Recommends and drives improvement in existing products / services to better meet customer needs.

  • Advance skills in Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint highly preferred.


  • Ability to perform under high pressure and dynamic work environment managing multiple deliverables.

  • Ability to understand technical language and to recognize and differentiate technical issues, and translate needs to the Vestas value proposition for a customer.

  • Ability to function effectively under pressure in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands.

  • Ability to assimilate technical and commercial information and translate that into appropriate business assessments.

  • Essential behaviors cooperation, continuous improvement, flexibility, customer focus, active listener, etc.

  • Communication- Strong verbal and written communication skills required (level of communication within company with team, stakeholders, all levels, etc.)
