Door Services Corporation is a business unit of Horton Automatics, an Overhead Door Corporation company. Door Services offers installation and maintenance of the doors manufactured by Horton Automatics (commercial sliders, optical turnstyles, revolving doors, swinging / folding doors, etc.)

Position Function:

To manage the service department of the specified Door Services location that services and repairs Commercial/Retail Automatic Doors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage the day-to-day work flow for the service department and direct the service technicians' schedules and responsibilities.

  • Responsible for managing the relationships of new and existing customers.

  • Schedule the day to day operations and coordinate with the dispatch office.

  • Provide oversight during the new technician training process and observe the work of the Technicians assisting where required.

  • Review and evaluate appropriate repair requirements for each job.

  • Evaluate and ensure prior to commencement of work, that the appropriate tools and equipment are working and/or available.

  • Analyze the needs of each job and establish when required.

  • Determine if work needs to be performed and identify the measures needed to assure approved services of product.

  • Responsible for documenting the work to be performed and reviewing with the customer.

  • Perform commercial service repairs on a wide range of products including hinges, electric door operators, door hardware, locks, etc.

  • Responsible for overseeing the care and maintenance of equipment, tools and vehicles provided by Door Services Corporation.

  • Maintain that the appropriate parts inventory is in the company vehicles and ensure that items are available for service work.

  • Represent Door Services with customers and present them in a professional demeanor.

  • Oversee and direct the service technicians to ensure that an explanation of the work to be performed and work finished is provided including a complete description of operating functions, safety systems, operator controls and proper customer maintenance.

  • Responsible for providing a billing document to the consumer and accepting payments as determined by Door Service Corporation guidelines. Ensure that procedures are in place to provide back-up copies of such information and payment are retained in a safe place and delivered to Door Service Corp.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Mechanical and Electrical skills are required. A minimum of 5 years' experience in the Door Industry is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate basic math and read a tape measure.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver's license.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in many different environments including hospitals, pharmaceuticals facilities, business offices and retail locations and is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
