The Service Manager is responsible for oversight of daily operations in the shop. The Service Manager must guide mechanics through diagnosis and/or repairs of trucks and communicate with different division supervisors on trucks coming into the shop or needing services or repairs.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Must have good knowledge of trucks and trailers from bumper to bumper, engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, plumbing, and rear ends.
Communicate with other divisions, supervisors and other Service Managers on their needs and/or issues with trucks and equipment.
Conduct daily inspections of shop equipment and tools.
Keep a shift report of down trucks and repairs needed so Driver Managers know what equipment is available.
Complete performance reviews on mechanics.
Ensure everyone is working safely in the shop.
Communicate with the parts department on trucks coming in for parts availability.
Order and track shop supplies.
Oversee fab shop and jobs coming in and out of shop
Responsible for ensuring tracking of the maintenance work on company vehicles and ensure services provided are in compliance with safety procedures.
Previous shop management experience required.
Must possess general knowledge of welding and equipment.
Must possess knowledge and understanding of a vehicle's electrical system, engines, and all of its working parts.
Must be familiar with mechanical and technical systems and using diagnostic computer software to identify issues.
Must possess general knowledge of of Volvo, International, Western Star, Kenworth, Peterbuilt, Cat, Cummins and Detroit engines.
Must possess a basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must possess an understanding of the industry, regulations and technologies.
Must adhere to Company policies and procedures.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to perform the essential functions in a fast paced and high stress environment.
Must possess exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work with current and potential customers, both internal and external.

Licenses and Certifications
Valid driver's license. Class A or Class B CDL preferred. Diesel Mechanic Certification required.
This position has supervisory responsibilities for two or more full-time employees.
