Tesla's Service Managers are the leaders of our service teams. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering an impeccable service experience to each and every Tesla customer while preparing Tesla Service teams to meet the needs of our Model 3 customers and beyond.

Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Our Service Managers must deliver excellent results and achieve goals quarter after quarter, month after month, on all aspects of customers, people, operations, and financials.

  • Customer focused: Our customers are changing the world, and it is your responsibility to exceed their expectations of what a service experience should be. We expect you to go above and beyond for our customers. You will actively monitor customer service trends to make necessary improvements, and assist your team in developing appropriate standards and processes to continuously elevate the overall service experience.

  • People: Our Service Managers lead by example. We expect you to put your team's success before your own, and actively involve yourself in your team members' growth and development. Your team will look to you to set the standard for open communication, active problem solving, and a positive work environment. We will look to you to build a team of top talent and mentor the next generation of Tesla leaders. Our Service Managers are the coaches of their teams you must provide regular coaching and feedback, and have a deep knowledge of your team's strengths and opportunities. You will be responsible for leading change and inspiring your team every day.

  • Operational excellence: As a Service Manager, you must understand and own every aspect of your service center's performance. You will be responsible for driving continuous improvements to facilitate exceptional team output and customer service. We expect you to champion safety, efficiency, quality, and overall excellence in all of your actions and decisions.

  • Financials: Service Managers are expected to understand our business, know their numbers and lead the center's daily operations to achieve specific goals in productivity, quality, output, cost as well as revenue / margin where applicable.

  • Our Service Managers act in the best interest of Tesla at all times. You must have a passion for our mission, our people, and our customers.

  • Technical acumen is required you must develop a knowledge of all Tesla products, as well as Service systems, processes, and procedures.

General Requirements:

  • Educational experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Professional experience: Prior leadership experience in a service-focused industry. Automotive expertise is not required.

  • Leadership experience: Experience leading teams and managing a diverse group of roles and responsibilities.

  • Process / operations experience: strong and proven experience leading field, technical repair or manufacturing teams in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment with strong customer facing responsibilities. Experience running complex processes using Lean or other techniques.

As a Vehicle Service Technician 2 you will report into our Vehicle Service Manager. You will be responsible for the learning, execution, certification, and improvement of our work standards and processes, which are an integral part of our overall vehicle service system. Your role as a member of our team, as is everyone's, is to focus on the improvement of the whole system, so that our customer is better served. This work requires teaming, respect, problem solving and collaboration with all parts of our organization, always keeping our customer and fulfillment of their needs as the target. The work is to better understand how your work affects all the other pieces of the process, so that when all work interacts, better outcomes are created. Responsibilities: * Act as the highest quality vehicle maintenance and light service technician * Perform routine automotive maintenance, such as oil change, vehicle inspection, tire rotation & replacement, wheel alignment, engine and cabin air filter replacement, and brake & rotor replacement * Disassembly and reassembly of collision damaged vehicles * Light diagnosis of drivetrain, suspension or HVAC problems and repair/replace components as needed. * Responsible for performing and documenting daily equipment inspections and ensuring equipment is ready for use * Clean and detail vehicles, as needed * Provide training, assistance, and mentoring of entry-level technicians * Maintain a clean and safe work environment on a continuous basis and comply with Lyft's Repair & Safety Guidelines * Maintains and executes system standards and visual management * Operate a variety of hand, power, and shop tools * Partner with team members to drive efficiency and resolve complex issues Experience: * 2+ years of proven service work experience in the automotive industry is mandatory * Must have experience performing oil change, tire rotation, repair and replacement, air filter, transmission flush, brake fluid flush, brake purge, AC service * Minimum skills may be acquired through a qualified technical school certificate or equivalent related experience * Preferred Qualifications include an A.S. degree or Certificate in MACS with previous experience as a mechanic working on light diagnostics * Demonstrates commitment to solving problems * Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills * Discipline to Standard Operating Procedures and Routines * Must have a basic level of computer proficiency * Strong teamwork skills (i.e. communication, respectfulness, listening, reliability, conflict management) * Ability to lift 20lbs * Ability to use basic hand tools * Capable of standing, walking, and completing physical activity ~8 hours per day * Must have a valid unrestricted driver's license * Have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable under Lyft's policy Benefits: * Brand new, state of the art equipment provided * Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options * In addition to 11 observed holidays, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off * 401(k) plan to help save for your future * 18 weeks of paid parental leave.
