The Service Manager at Bastian Automation Engineering (BAE) is responsible for the efficiency, morale, safety and profitability of BAE Service Department, composed of: Service Engineers, Service Technicians, Installation/Site Supervisors, and other site support. Facilitate projects from Purchase Order to Project Completion, with respect to Financial, Time and Quality commitments. Measured by the financial well being of projects as seen on the Project Financial Report (PFR), customer surveys and the business unit's master scheduling tools. Administers service schedules and provides superior equipment installation, service and site support for all Bastian Automation equipment and projects. Responsible for timely and effective communications for all team members, assuring that all customer expectations are reasonably met and those that are not within scope are offered as Change Orders (CNAs) in a prompt and professional manner.


  • Bachelors in Engineering/Technology or Operations with 5+ years' practical business experience or equivalent practical experience.

  • Excellent technical problem solving capability (hardware, controls).

  • Strong computer skills with: MS office, MS Project & industrial programming software.

  • Excellent recruiting capability, assuring continuity in resources, while allowing for growth paths amongst all team members. Ability to delegate and grow your people.

  • Strong Leadership Skills

  • AutoCAD and SolidWorks skills (Equipment, Electrical, Installation Drawings)

  • Ability to travel 50% overnight

  • Product testing that may require lifting. These items may weigh up to and including 50 pounds.

  • Continuous growth in revenues of 20% per year, as aligned with new equipment sales, with 30% Gross Margin and 6-8% NIAT (Net Income / Revenues)

General Responsibilities:

  • Review all budgets for cost accuracy, technical risk and "fit" into the schedule. Recommend better projects if there are choices. Maintain accuracy of project budgets. Figure out the execution plan prior to booking into (If we need to outsource work, budget it that way during the booking process). If it is unclear as to whether install will be in-sourced our out-sourced, hold off on booking the revenue until we have it figured out.

  • Seek out excellent talent for BAE Service Dept. Assist in checking candidate references.

  • Develop strategic 'fit' with other business units

  • Participate in round table interviews for other department candidates (Sales, Engineering, etc.)

  • Discipline to maintain positive cash flow on all projects. Ensure that billings go out timely. Collect past dues consistently.

  • Create and maintain effective individual employee incentive plans that motivate the employee and support the overall success of the Company:

  • Aligned goals (Customers, the Company, and the Employee).

  • Clearly understood metrics (scoreboard)

  • Approve time sheets for your department on time. Responsible for accuracy of cost codes.

  • Partner with an installer to allow extended services. Certified and consistent processes.

  • Review and maintain your team's schedule. Coordinate and approve vacations ensuring that the group can continue to function effectively.

  • Cross Train and network with other Bastian business units

  • Encourage training for your people. Can be as simple as a quarterly site visit for design engineering as well as formal classes

  • Communication with Operations Manager is clear and frequent.

  • Any and all job duties as assigned.

The Program Manager, Service Delivery oversees the day-to-day activities for CMA programs, such as hubs, reimbursement hotlines, patient assistance programs, co-payment programs, and other programs.
