Job Description:

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Service Management System Engineer - Mid to join our team in Washington, DC to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

Duties: Responsible for supporting the Service Management System operations, to include engineers and the SMS development life cycle.


Experience: Bachelor's degree and 8 years experience. Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience providing Service Management System administration services. Must have experience managing SMS development activities and be proficient in applying the SDLC and DevOps principles. Must have knowledge the current DOT SMS. (Currently Remedy.)

ActioNet is an IT service provider and solutions integrator headquartered in Vienna, VA that works with the Federal Government and Department of Defense. We are seeking an Operations Manager to support the Project Manager on a mature contract with the Department of Transportation (DOT), Maritime Administration (MARAD), Ready Reserve Force (RRF) Management System (RMS). Candidate will work under very broad supervision in providing management and technical direction to personnel. Regularly exercise independent judgment, as well as a high-level of analytical skill in solving complex technical, administrative and managerial problems. On a day to day basis will act as operations manager to lead functional areas in meeting all Service Level Agreements (SLAs), will provide quality assurance on all deliverables and practice ITIL Framework fundamentals. The Operations Manager will be responsible for all aspects of project performance to include performing all or some of the following: * Support management and coordinate remote network engineers to analyze risks, develop plans and documentation as well as support and manage the production of project deliverables such as weekly and monthly status reports, ship/site visit reports, equipment purchase requests, etc. * Work with Project Manager to establish, direct and maintain work plan and multi-disciplinary staffing for each phase of project, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel as needed. * Resolve project issues, mitigate risks, and elevate scope change requests. Ensure completion of project deliverables in a timely manner. * Maintain customer contacts to ensure conformity to all contractual obligations. * Excellent organizational presentation and written communication skills. * Experience working in an IT department multi-site context. * Demonstrated conflict management skills and personnel management ability. * Demonstrated experience in leading change and change management. * Experience with subcontractor and/or vendor management. * Serve as Replication Manager alternate/backup as needed. * Prior to each Network Engineer ship visit, review list of open Helpdesk tickets, specifically with regard to hardware and scripts to ensure availability of spare parts and resolution of tickets. Coordinate transfer of spare parts from another OA if needed. * Handle hardware and software procurements (provide price quotes/estimates and comparisons to RMS Program Office, submit ODC Purchase Requisitions, and track shipments). * Manage and drive IT projects, from inception to completion by developing proposals for network engineering activities (i.e., shipboard communications). * Shield the team from external interferences to keep members on task. * Candidates must be permanent residents of the United States and will be required to undergo a background investigation and fingerprinting in order to gain access to sensitive information. Minimum Position Requirements: (Knowledge/Skills/Education/Certification): * BS/BA degree (or equivalent experience) in related field plus 8 years of related experience, 5 years of which must be in a supervisory role. Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree on a case by case basis. * 5+ years hands-on experience in the following areas: communications, communications management, infrastructure, network engineering, systems administration and/or software applications. * 8+ years of overall professional experience. * Excellent skills in MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio. * Excellent leadership, analysis, facilitation, and relationship skills. * Exceptional organizational skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skill. * ITIL Foundations or must obtain within 6 months of hire. * Core Networking Concepts and Terminologies. * Experience working on IT systems (Windows, SQL, etc.). * Proficient in the use of remote access and troubleshooting systems (i.e. BOMGAR, LMI) Knowledge/Skills/Education/Certification): * 5 or more years information technology project management experience. * Exceptional time-management and organizational skills. * System and Network Security concepts and practices. * Highly desired - Experience with using American Bureau of Shipping Nautical Systems Management tools * Highly desired - Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations Experience (US Navy or commercial maritime operations) ActioNet is an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
