What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Supervise all employees reporting to the Service Center, including tracking and auditing employees' hours, handling payroll issues and personnel changes, administering corrective action and monitoring the coaching, training and development of your staff

  • Plan the daily manpower needs to ensure freight is delivered and picked up in a timely manner

  • Provide clear and frequent communication to all employees about Service Center productivity and XPO policies and procedures

  • Analyze, monitor and implement all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies; maintain clean and safe working conditions of the facility and equipment

  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as all company policies/procedures

  • Route proper documentation and oversee procedure control for hazardous material shipments

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and execute action plans to increase efficiencies

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree, 4 years of related work experience or equivalent military experience

  • 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Thorough knowledge of the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, transportation rules and regulations, OSHA standards, hazardous materials regulations, NMFC and Tariff rules, and company policies and procedures

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • A valid driver's license

  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends; travel as needed

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Experience with process improvement and the use of Lean and/or Six Sigma

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize work with excellent organizational skills

  • Experience in an LTL environment

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills

  • Exceptional leadership, communication and administrative skills

This job requires the ability to:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally

  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel

  • Walk and stand for extended periods of time on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Our ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility and teamwork. This position is benefit eligible Ability to work 32 to 38 hours per week with an expectation to work more hours as needed. Employees must be available to work various shifts between the hours of 7am - 10pm various shifts as scheduled, any day Monday through Friday. Ability to work approximately 2-3 Saturdays per month from 8am to 8pm. Available to address operational problems when not at test center. 60% of daily tasks are Test Administrator responsibilities: * Performs on-time site opening and closing procedures. * Understands all testing procedures. * Checks in examinees, verifies identification, and explains the exam process. * Monitors examinees while testing. * Maintains a secure testing environment. * Communicates with internal technical support to investigate and fix technical issues. * Strictly adheres to company policies using careful judgment. * Responsible for maintaining a professional and clean testing center with light housekeeping duties. * Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts. * Other duties as assigned. 40% of daily tasks are Test Center Manager responsibilities: The Test Center Manager is the onsite manager of a small team of Test Administrator employees. * Site staffing/hiring/retention/conflict resolution/scheduling. * Trains, develops and coaches staff. * First contact for facility issues. * Ability to multi-task. Qualifications * Minimum of 1 year customer service experience preferred. * One year supervision experience in customer service preferred. * High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience preferred. * Team leading and training skills, and exposure to a testing environment are strongly preferred. * Strong communication and customer service skills are a must, delivered with focused attentiveness and moderate interaction. * Must be flexible in work hours and days. * Ability to complete all tasks in a timely and efficient manner, and handle a reasonable amount of stress. * Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows applications, Internet, and email. * Ability to operate a computer, fax, and telephone. * Must be able to work in a quiet, focused environment and hear spoken words in soft voices. * Ability to lift up to 20 lbs on occasion.
