Position Summary

Responsible for the efficient diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of vehicles along with replacement of general automotive parts and accessories. Partner with store management and the desk team to deliver superior service and education to customers on problems and proposed solutions for their vehicles.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure a thorough safety and mechanical vehicle inspection is completed and documented in the work order system for every car assigned to him/her that comes into the shop. Ability to communicate repairs that are necessary for the safety and operational efficiency of the vehicle to customers and management. Recommends additional repairs and services pertaining to scheduled maintenance, vehicle enhancements, and/or upgrades as appropriate. Adheres to MAP (UICS) standards.

  • Conduct a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs; including but not limited to brakes, all tire related services, including mounting, balancing, and flat repairs, state safety and emissions testing (where required), fluid changes, steering and suspension, maintenance services, starting and charging. Responsible for securing vehicle during repairs and after repairs are completed.

  • Maintain technical capabilities to ensure proficient, safe use of service equipment. Interprets and applies technical instructions in diagram and text form.

  • Maintain company directed productivity, training development plan, and comeback performance levels.

  • Approachable and knowledgeable resource regarding technical matters related to installation and proper application of parts and accessories, while also providing accurate and effective direction, advice and assistance to service advisors, other technicians, commercial, retail and parts associates, management, and customers.

  • Partner with Management to produce a safe and healthy work environment that complies with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as with company policies and procedures. Expected to comply with loss prevention, safety, and environmental codes and ordinances.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Successful completion of Background and Drug tests.

  • Minimum six months of related experience in the automotive service environment.

  • Must have basic knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions. Ability to apply mathematical formulas to calculate commissions and discounts.

  • ASEs preferred; ASE G1-Auto Maintenance and Light Repair strongly preferred; state certifications/licenses where required.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work Days, Nights, Holidays and Weekends.

VIEW JOBS 1/8/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-08T00:00 Academic Advisor POSITION SUMMARY: The Academic Advisor conducts advising appointments with a portion of undeclared, provisionally admitted, and probation students and supplemental advising to a portion of declared "walk-in" students. The advisor counsels students on academic issues and major options and assists with advanced registration and retention activities. PRIMARY DUTIES: Provide ongoing advisement for a caseload of approximately 40% of the undeclared students and students in transition between majors. Register and provide advisement for incoming students with regard to academic pathways, registration procedures and major options. Work closely with Senior Academic Advisor, Academic Departments and Admissions counselors to manage the matriculation of new students. Serve as an academic advisor to probation students through regular required advising meetings. Establish academic goals, provide coaching, and evaluate academic progress via fifth week grade reports. Provide feedback to students in a timely and appropriate fashion. Refer students to campus resources as needed. Monitor registration of currently enrolled students from one semester to the next. Assist with early alert processes and provide proactive counseling and intervention to "at risk" students. Work with faculty to support students of concern. Serve as a supplemental academic advisor to students in specific majors in cooperation with faculty advisors. Serve as a liaison to academic departments. Assist students in the development and clarification of educational plans, graduation requirements and graduation timelines. Utilize advising software systems to accurately document all appointments and communication with students within one business day of communication occurring, but preferably same day. Assist with the advisor assignment process for faculty advising in partnership with the Director of Advising. Partner with IT, Registrar's Office and academic departments to implement and evaluate the assignment process. Assist in the development and implementation of training to users. Keep records up-to-date and make changes in a timely manner. Assist in promotion, planning, preparation, and execution of registration events and any other scheduled events, workshops, etc. Possible collection and analysis of data related to advising and retention programs and services (may include work with retention reports, student success data, advisor assessments, etc.). Possibly teach one section of a one-credit course for undeclared freshmen (First Year Seminar) on a rotating basis. Assist with other tasks and duties that support the Academic Advising program and office. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The Academic Advisor reports to the Director of Academic Advising and Success. QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree required. Some graduate work preferred. Two years of experience working with undergraduate students in an advising/counseling setting desired. 2.Skills Required: Exceptional interpersonal/advising skills, strong oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, technologically competent. Commitment to Christian higher education. Some familiarity with StrengthsQuest preferred. Event planning experience and familiarity with Biola University curriculum a plus. 3. Holds personal theological beliefs that are in agreement with the Biola Doctrinal Statement.
