This senior level position gives technical direction to and professional guidance and leadership to IT counterparts, management, and other staff as it relates to the design, evolution, and continuous adaptation of the high availability technology infrastructure, server infrastructure, and the integrated hardware/software that houses and operates the agencys data systems and applications.
The incumbent serves as a sophisticated interface between network engineers and designers and all groups that support stakeholders in the various supported systems and solutions. You will apply your highly technical understanding of how technology fits within the overall architecture of the infrastructure and network of servers and other technology devices that service the agency, its campuses, remote users, security constraints, strategic goals and partners.
This position is the highest level of internal support, providing Tier III expertise to other engineers particularly with regards to active directory design, domain name service design, dynamic host configuration protocol design, distributed file system utilization, disaster recovery planning, system life cycle maintenance, security enhancement, and operational support. You will set the standards and review design specifications for new solutions involving server infrastructure, active directory, or other infrastructure services.
Responsibilities include supporting technologies as follows:
Design, reconfiguration, and performance management of technology hardware
Set standards for and incorporate and/or design new technical solutions in response to agency changes and technology trends
Analyze, design, and implement configurations that meet user needs within defined MNIT Services and state standards
Provide MNIT Services input to design of the States implementation of Active Directory and other enterprise class solutions
Evaluate, install, test, modify, maintain, upgrade, and monitor technology components
Ensure and maintain physical and logical security
Maintain documentation of network topology, infrastructure and device configuration of technology within MNIT Services infrastructure
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and provide Tier III support to problem escalated from other teams or from team members
Lead the elicitation of needs, establishment of project plans and build consensus with project sponsors on strategies
Evaluate security recommendations for server build standards
Provide independent on-call support of system infrastructure

This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience involved in server administration that includes:
Experience with Microsoft server/desktop operating systems
Server management components (i.e. ADAC, ADUC, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, WINS, DCs, and CPU utilitzation)
Active Directory Management
PowerShell scripting experience
Lead work experience
A Masters degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three years of experience, OR a related Bachelors degree substitutes for two years, OR a related Associates substitutes for one year.
