Job Description

As a Server Engineering Support with OMES you will enjoy:

Job Details

  • Full-time 40-hour work weeks.

  • Support the Information Services Division

  • Salary is based on education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage Windows and Linux servers running from Vmware vSphere and cloud environment - Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Administer server components such as but not limited to Windows File server, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policy, IIS.

  • Deploy and manage security updates to Microsoft Windows servers

  • Administer security access policies and controls for computerized data and resources

  • Process and store parameters and controls used to provide data security and access permissions

  • Monitor security logs, provide procedural safeguards and prepare reports pertaining to access, utilization, violations, and intrusion

  • Conduct research for server hardware and software upgrades, enhancements, and migrations

  • Implement approved change requests from users to meet all user requirements and schedules

  • Research and stay current on the latest server technologies

  • Monitor system usage and identify areas for expansion or reconfiguration

  • Develop technical documentation and materials including diagrams, models, manuals, and procedures

  • Train and cross-train across functional disciplines to maintain support levels and coverage within the unit

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating system software, installing new releases, applying patches or fixes, testing, and implementing into production environment

  • Research, install, configure, and maintain, test and coordinate implementing operating system software and other vendor supplied software updates, upgrades, and fixes

  • Install, configure, and maintain storage management, backup, archival and recovery components in a networked server environment

  • Troubleshoot, isolate, and replace operating system and server components.

  • Maintain systems at 99% uptime and reliability

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. Occasional travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements include five years of experience with Windows Server administration in Vmware, vSphere and Cloud environments.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic concepts of Microsoft operating systems, server hardware, server virtualization, cloud computing, and networking

  • Server virtualization technology including Vmware vSphere, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Ability to listen, learn, adapt to change, and work with a team

  • Skills in verbal communication, customer relationships, problem solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail

  • Administering systems using PowerShell and a knowledge of scripting

  • Comprehensive knowledge of server management tools, advanced networking concepts, advanced operating systems, and best practices

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

  • Skills in written communication

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

  • Ability to interpret customer requirements into technical solutions, produce technical diagrams, and provide mentorship

  • Skills in presentation, leadership, and project management

Preference will be given to candidates who possess

  • Windows Server administration

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • Microsoft Certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, Azure Fundamentals or Administrator

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

  • Vmware Certified Associate
