Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada, is seeking applicants for a Server and Database Admin Specialist.
The Server and Database Administration Specialist provides day-to-day operational management for the college's file and database servers. Some of the major duties include but are not limited to analyzing, designing, installing, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting server hardware, server-based software, domain directory services, storage area networks, enterprise multifunction printers, etc. In addition, this position requires an understanding about SQL queries in order to extract and provide data from TMCC's data warehouse.
1.Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of related experience OR a combination of education and experience may be considered.
2.Experience: A variety of server software and hardware and experience in designing, programming and/or managing databases, familiarity with SQL.
1.Knowledge of T-SQL, Database administration.
2.Experience creating and maintaining reports, developing solutions for extraction, transformation and loading data.
3.Experience with maintenance issues and data transfers between internal and external systems.

1.Hardware: Server Computers, Storage Area Networks, Network Load Balancers, Enterprise Multifunction Printers
2.Software: Server Operating Systems, Domain Directory Service, Database Management System, Virtualization, Internet Servers (web, ftp), Single Sign-On, Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Storage Management, File Management, Print Management, Malware Handling, Monitoring and Notification, Backup, Learning Management, E-mail, Fax, Voicemail, RADIUS and all other software installed on server computers
3.Maintenance: Maintain current security patches and when possible, resolve issues during approved maintenance windows. Apply other patches as requested by stakeholders. Utilize monitoring tools to ensure proper performance and functionality. Work with stakeholders to plan any service outages.
4.Database Programming : Develop queries for data extraction, reporting and maintenance issues. Transform data between internal and external systems.
5.Analysis/Design/Implementation: Analyze new systems for implementation and review existing systems for potential evolution. Design effective systems and execute their implementation. This process frequently involves working with stakeholders within and outside the Information Technology department, vendors, product experts and independent research.
6.Work with Oracle/PeopleSoft, Workday, Canvas, possess the ability to learn and understand new systems in a reasonable timeframe.
7.Training: Expand knowledge of supported systems. Keep up to date on new technology. Cross-train/mentor other staff.
8.Documentation: Develop and update installation documentation. Maintain and develop processes for various audiences (team, department, end users, etc.). Utilize version control software to maintain revision history of database projects and other files as needed.
9.Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission, and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College.

Starting salary, $48,298. Dependent on education and experience.
