Queen Associates and our Charlotte client have an immediate direct hire opportunity for a Server Administrator. This is an onsite position and sponsorship is not available at this time.

Job Title: Server Administrator

Job Description:
The Server Administrator is responsible for the implementation and management of physical and virtual technology infrastructure. This infrastructure includes converged and hyper-converged environments hosting business critical applications.


Configure and manage all aspects of the server operating system services.

Plan, design, maintain and support server hardware and software systems including virtualization platforms.

Maintain technologies (including Active Directory, group policies, DNS, DHCP, etc.) to insure network server services and security to clients.

Attend training, conferences, and any other forms of educational opportunities to keep skills current and to expand into new areas.

Design, evaluate, recommend, install, test and maintain all aspects of systems virtualization for CPF.

This includes but is not limited to:

All VMWare software and hardware.

Managing host profiles and VM templates.

Management of all VMWare monitoring products.

Management of attached storage.

Plan, design, develop, and manage Citrix XenApp, XenServer, and XenDesktop environments.

Manage NetScaler load balancing appliances to support internet and internal server load balancing requirements.

Manage Microsoft Exchange and messaging environments to produce a robust and redundant messaging platform with DR failover capability.

Maintain current documentation of implemented server infrastructure projects and network system rollouts.

Troubleshoot and isolate server hardware problems and equipment outages in a timely manner using hardware and software support tools.

Work with the Business Continuity/Disaster Recover Team and assist with the annual BC/DR test.

Proactively serve as a team resource for technical issues when CPF is evaluating new technology and services.

Learn other skills, as needed, in order to provide secondary support of other systems.

Perform other duties as requested by the Technical Services Manager.


Education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration, or in a job related field of study. Five (5) years of related work experience in Information Technology.

Proficiency in MS Windows Server and Active Directory

  • Microsoft certification preferred

Strong experience and knowledge of VMWare ESX - VCP certification preferred

Experience in the configuration and troubleshooting of storage fabric networks

Experience in computer and server hardware maintenance and repair.

  • A+ certification preferred

Strong understanding of computer networking components including TCP/IP, IP routing, DMZ, DNS, and DHCP.

  • Network + certification preferred

General understanding of storage technologies such as SAN and NAS.

General understanding of high availability server configurations.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

While there is not an assigned on-call rotation, server administrators are expected to be available outside of regular business hours to perform changes and respond to emergency support calls.
